As someone who has never played GURPS, what is the benefit of Deceptive Attack/Predictive Shot? If the attacker takes -2 to hit so the defender will take -1 to defend/dodge, doesn't that still leave the attacker with a net -1 to hitting the defender?

Fantastic work. This is an amazing resource, and thank you very much for your work on this. Out of curiosity, is there any documentation regarding the optimal formatting for an imported stat block? I like making quick NPCs with ChatGPT, but even after tweaks to my instructions following the user guide info I still can't seem to get generated NPCs to import cleanly. Do you perhaps have any example stat blocks that import without issues?

I'm kind of struggling with the idea that the attribute-based skills have lower (read harder) target numbers than the base attribute. So why then would I want to roll against a skill versus the base attribute if my chances are lower? It seems inelegant

Sorry Chris, but my player's priest has "Energy Resource" as new resource tracker (in GCS it is listed under "point pools") but in foundry it doesn't appear on the character sheet. Actually there isn't any added resource tracker appeared on my foundry character sheet. What can be the problem?
@zoltandemeter919
@zoltandemeter919 Ай бұрын
Ah, I've found a new resource tracker button under Reaction and Modifiers boards. I gave ER to the priest, and it worked, even after I tried a new import, and it is still there, didn't dissapear. But when I first made the import, it wasn't there, though it was presented on the original. Strange thing. But it's okay now!

Hello, and thanks very much for this tool! I do have one question: The dice bucket modifiers are negative, so they actually reduce the player's roll, instead of adding to it. Since the player misses on a high number this makes it look like they hit when they don't. Am I using the tool incorrectly or is there a way to have penalties add to the roll instead of subtracting?
@michaeltrout9731
@michaeltrout9731 Ай бұрын
Penalties are negative because they apply to the skill. So if you have Hiking 12, a -2 makes it Hiking 10, which is harder to succeed at.

Hey not sure if your still reaponding to comments but im a little confused about something, recently my group and i tryed put gurps and one of them wanted to play a boxer. They had strength 15, striking power 3, and boxing 15, with a dex of 12. Now i am confused cause o. The character sheet is said d+3 damage, when we thought itd be d+4 damage, since respetive stength should be 18 and boxing would give a plus 2 to each dice damage. But we are all knee and everyone always sings this programs praises, so can you please tell me if we made a mistake or maybe the sheet has some issues with unarmed damage?

I just recently started getting interested in GURPS because I haven't had a lot of opportunity to try out other systems aside from D&D since that's what my main group tends to play. But I've been getting the itch to branch out to other systems. I got GCS shortly after I started watching your Intro to / Learning GURPS. I decided to make a test character and didn't really put a disadvantage limit on myself because I was just messing around. I could NOT stop laughing at how spot on you called me out at 5:18, because the character I made was LITERALLY a brain in a jar that used psionic abilities to compensate for not having a body! 🤣 Anyway, I've loved your GURPS videos so far, Nose. I hope you keep making more. Thank you for creating. 💜

So, I'm new to GURPS and had a question about GCS that I've spent way too long on. I am using the default library that comes with GCS, it seems fine enough but I can't seem to find the magery/magic limitations found on page 23 of Thaumatology. If anyone could help, either with the location in the master library or a better library I would greatly appreciate it.

In the arrmoured example I thought I had missed something when you brought up wound multiplier by location. Had to backup to see that no you were bringing up a second type of wound multiplier. I notice impaling has a x2 multiplier and you applied the x3 from vitals, do I understand correctly that if multiple multiplier apply for different reason you simply apply the best individual multiplier?

A picture is worth a thousand words, so a video is worth 24,000-60,000 words per second + a variable number of words depending on the audio. Super happy for you with this, I am just getting back into the groove for GURPS after a few years of it being on the shelf and I came back to your videos because they are great resources. Also Foundry integration is a great idea, our table is all older gamers (not full grog nards, mostly elder millennials) but we started using Foundry a couple of years ago and it has now become almost mandatory in our games.

GURPS makes fantasy artificers not feel like spellcasters, but actual inventers, but still able to blend tech with magic. I have a steampunk campaign in the works that elementals are used to fuel magic based tech like caster rifles. Fun part is crit fails result in rolls first on the tech crit fail table, then another roll on the magic crit fail table. Crit fails are made truly epic to the point it might create a side mission or full new story chapter.

Oh. This is so cool. What stands out to me is the modular nature of GURPs. The best example of modular gaming is the grid and minitures in Dungeons and Dragons. This may apply to other TTRPGS as well. The stereotypical image of a DND game session is one where it looks like a minitures game. It makes sense given the wargaming roots of DND. However that isn't mandatory. It blew my mind when I learned about this. It is possible to play DND without the grid and minis. This is theater of the mind. Players still have thier character sheets and thier fancy dice. Either method of play can work. It depends on the preferences of the players and DM. I really dived into ideas of modular play. There can be so many optional systems to play with. A major optional system I have is spell cards. DND has spell slots as a magic reasource. This is a bad system because it is needlessly complex. The Vancian flavor is cool though. I use mana pools as a magic resource instead. In a basic system, spells would just be writtin in a list. A player can use them at will as long as they can pay the mana. Spell cards can provide an alternative. They are like spell cards in Magic the Gathering, particularly the noncreature kind. This may apply to other TCGs. Spells are represented by a deck of spell cards instead of a list. The players draw cards, cast spells and discard cards. I think of it as Vancian magic that has better mechanics than spell slots. Using a deck leads one to deal with cards as a reasource and deal with card advantage. A spell deck is like a grid with minitures in that it is an optional feature in a modular system. It makes the game more complex. This may or may not be appealing depending on the player. Personally I am for both features. I can get into a lot of fun shenanigans with messing with features. There are special kinds of spells called menuvers. They move characters all around the board. One can get real tactical. There are also spells that deal with cards. Maybe I can call them Vancian spells, or something. There are effects like draw, discard and mill. That is its own fun thing. In Magic the Gathering, I love playing nlue. I have even played Dimir. So I delight in messing with card reasources. Gurps seems cool with the modular system. I would like to see how that works. This video gave both pros and cons. However the cons may as well not be there, due to all the reassurance. The beauty of a modular system is that it can adjust to skill levels. Just use the basic system for a group of beginners. Reducing this to one sheet of paper is impressive. It is like a rules lite system. I love to homebrew DND. I go so far that it starts to resemble designing an origional game. I think of rules as suggestions and not demands. I have my own collection of TTRPG books. There are some chonky ones like Pathfinder and Dungeon Crawl Classics. I don't get intimidated by such books, because I can take it a little bit at a time. I wonder how far modular system can go. Maybe it can range from being very rules lite to being very crunchy.

From a technical perspective, a spoken pun is words that are pronounced the same, or similarly, taking the same place in a sentence, but whose different meaning are both appropriate in the sentence. So that was a pun.
