Hi , really enjoyed this video!! I love commonplacing. I used my hobonichi a6 hon in 2024 and a few in TN standard inserts but this year I am unsure where to commonplace for some reason 😂 your journals are so so beautiful ❤❤

Really fantastic video, thank you for sharing this! I’ve been feeling quite scared since it’s my first time using the hobonichi, but your video helped me see that there are all kinds of ways at going about using it! If it’s alright with you, can you share what kind of paper you used for printing the photos/ephemera? I’ve been worried about the thickness of the book at the end of the year since I like to glue stickers/ephemera in, so this could help a lot! Thank you again!

i was the same when i bought mine last year, but as you gets more comfortable with the book, more fun it is! wishing you have an awesome time with yours <3 of course! i tend to print pictures at the convenience store here in japan, and if i'm not mistaken, they use 100gsm paper. i believe that, if you use regular paper, with 80-120gsm, you're all good. there will be bulking, that's inevitable, but it won't be too bad! :D

@@anniesrkive For some reason it just didn't make sense to me, the system. I think I'm more of a "this can go in my peronal journal" person, scattering things I like/want to keep throughout my daily journal, instead of having a separate notebook :)

what i've found recently is that i like to archive in an analog way articles that i read online. this keeps me curious enough to actively search for them and helps me retain the information better so i can talk about whatever i read with other people. it is time consuming as articles can be quite long

what you said about it not working because you were not okay for a period of the year, I understand that. we have to give ourselves the space to change things up as we need and feel like. it's okay to setup your journals and planners for next year AND it's okay, during the year, to adjust (either by removing or adding stuff) the system so that it's still something you enjoy and not a chore to keep up with

when things get hard in my life, i tend to prefer smaller books because i feel small/want to be smaller (that autistic thingTM of being in shutdown or burnout and not wanting to be perceived by oneself or others). i put a lot of pressure in myself to use only one book, but next year i will give myself a few options to rotate through, because i know things will get hard at some point (and that's fine, life is cyclical etc). that being said, none of my options are an A5 hobonichi. i wanted /so bad/ to be able to use a cousin but it's just so- big. and it gets bigger! i wouldn't be able to keep up with it, or bring it around with me. yours is looking great and thicc, it's nice to see how well used it is. :D many people seem to not have use for the weeklies. tbh i feel that having both the weeklies and the dailies is a bit redundant, specially in a big book. i wouldn't have use for it either.

oh my, i relate so much. the amount of pressure that i put on myself this year to have only one book, or max 2, made me very anxious. i feel like, when i started to use the cousin, it was a bit of fomo, because i saw all these cool spreads in it, and i thought it would be perfect :/ to be honest i feel the same, no way we can bring this bad boy with us anywhere! and that's something i really wanted to start doing hahahaha and thank you <3 about the weeks: i was of them! AHAHAHA i'm using it as a work/finance book and it's pretty cool. i think something that i understood this year is that i'm not built to have only one book, it's nice to keep work and personal separated, i'm going all out with my feelings in the cousin :P

This is similar to how my hobonichi A5 has evolved recently and how I plan to use it more for 2025! It’s too large for planning for me so it works as a memory keeper, commonplace book I think for me. Also using a stalogy right now. 💗 loved this video!

@@anniesrkive It’s one with a brown Sanrio Pochacco cover 🤭 there was a Sanrio store near my school when I was little and my mum would take me there once a month- we couldn’t afford much, sometimes just a pencil, but it was so much fun to walk around the store! My addiction to stickers, stationery and cute things started young lol. My health journal is more for tracking my food, and stomach issues. I got sick during the pandemic and it’s gotten worse over the years so I’m trying to take a closet look at what I eat and how it affects my symptoms 😭 but it’s also an excuse to use a cute notebook lol

I understand you wanting to change your rating system! Tbh I don’t get the 5 star only rating system. I got a Papier reading journal and it gives you a 10 star rating and it’s so much easier to rate things because you have a much wider range to choose from when deciding how you feel about a book. I now give all my books a rating from 1-10 and I am happy lol. It’s weird for some people but honestly, who cares! Find what works for you. Lovely set up!!

@@anniesrkiveI’ve heard of the cawpile system but I KNOW I’m too lazy to implement it 😂 I need things to be simple, otherwise I won’t commit to it. If I have to do math just to rate a book that’s a no for me lol. That’s why I have the Papier reading journal because as soon as I’m done reading a book I need to put all my thoughts down immediately or I’ll forget and in that journal I can just answer the questions and write down my thoughts and give it a quick rating, which I usually just go by gut honestly. BUT I also have a second reading journal that I set up myself and when I really like a book I just make a dedicated spread for it.

@@anniesrkiveoh yes! They have a “look inside” section at the bottom of the reading journal page and you can see the different pages included. But if you can’t find it I can send them to you, let me know! It’s so much easier to use it and then if I want to make a spread on my own, I can take however long to decorate it and I know I already have all my thoughts down.

I got a take a note b6 clear cover for my stalogy notebook, it will be a little loose since i am planning to get the half year on the black friday, but my only other option was etsy and those got over 20€ with shipping vs a 5€ cover so 😅

Yess, Kinbor is one of my favorite brands ^_^ I've used one for a few years now, but not this year though. I might switch from hobonichi to Kinbor again in 2026 xD

@@anniesrkive I definitely prefer the paper of Kinbor planners, and they're cheaper than Hobonichi! This year I have a Mega Weeks to see if I need those pages in the back or not. So if it turns out I don't need a lot of notes pages; I might go back to Kinbor. I don't mind getting it on aliexpress, never had any problems with it ☺️

I would suggest getting a standard Hobonichi weeks is better. I used the mega this year and I have so many blank pages I the notes sections.

I've added a Kinbor week's for a health planner and an A5 Kinbor for my work planner. Can't believe I overlooked the Kinbor for so long! I still have my Hobonichi planners too, but next year will determine if I make a permanent switch and save money!
