I have a v1.6 and I've been wanting to do this. The problem is my 1.6 board has Hynix chips and not Samsung. After reading some info I'm told it'll work to stack the Samsung's on top of the Hynix chips but it's even more a "PITA" because the pins are different from the two sets. My soldering experience includes various HDMI mod installs, Recapping, various mod-chip installs & installing screen upgrades on all my handhelds. Just this past week my Wii's Mini-HDMI connector decided to completely disconnect from the board. Sourcing parts I was able to fix it and get it up and running again. This ram install is a different technique for sure.

For anyone wondering, you dont need your sensor connected to use Wiimote generally. Only for the pointing function. The modding of your Wii doesn’t need that. Otherwise great video!

To clarify, the filenames for the UF2 firmware are ordered by what model of Wii you have, and then the system menu version. So, for a European Wii original model with 4.3E it would be "bluebomb_WII_SM4_3E.uf2". The Wii Mini by default has 4.3, so it would be "bluebomb_MINI_SM_(region).uf2".

I actually just did this a month or two ago; its overall a very fun system to mod. The only thing its missing is HDMI out; i thought i saw someone on twitter who did it successfully with one of the ElectronAVE kits but i havent been able to relocate it 😅

Hey, just a heads-up, that Ethernet adapter they recommended has recently been revisioned to not support the Wii and Wii U anymore, it now has the "AX88179" chipset, which is compatible with the Switch, but not the Wii as they are only compatible with the "AX88772". On the Amazon US site they changed the compatibility chart to say that it's not compatible, but on the Euro store (for me Germany) it still says that it does, which I've tested it does not! The best bet now is to grab the original adapter or gamble with one that claims to have the "AX88772" chip. There are a few on AliExpress, but I've seen mixed reviews on them!

Sorry, at 26mins, did you say "I replaced the laser"? Yeah, that is typically what you do when the laser starts to go. It sort of bypasses the whole need to do this. ;)

Hey another reset board for the PS1. I'm always happy to see them being used in videos :). Will's board makes it so easy to install. I wish I thought about that when I first programmed/designed the PS1 reset board lol.

I picked up the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W with the Argon pod case and HDMI Hub and picked up a Nacon wired compact Playstation controller. I need another controller though for two player Fisherman's Challenge Trilogy.
