We took the left trail up and I chickened out on the very narrow ledge with straight drop off. I was so sad that I got so close but couldn’t finish the hike. Thanks for your footage!

Aonijie. Wut? I have purchased socks and gaiters from them. I had not idea how to say it and remember looking it up. Apparently it's pronounced "ow-ner-gee" and is a mashup of "outdoor" and "energy".

5:30 as this is an ultra running pack the pocket on the shoulder is very obviously designed to put the GPS tracker so that the folks at home can monitor the runners progress on the race's tracking website

I could never do this. I’m glad to see that you did it, but I am very clumsy person. Besides the fact that I hate heights as I sit here watching my stomach is in knots, shaking my hands, shaking my feet sweating my hands are also sweating all the power to you. Congratulations on beating your goal. I prefer to look at the beauty through you.

We took the trail counterclockwise also. I would hate to go DOWN the crux. Going around the round boulder on the fin (26:00) was terrifying in the day!! I went around to the left. My husband went right. There were NO finger holds, a 12 inch ledge for my feet (at the most) and an 30+ drop behind. I was holding on with my arms relying on friction, moving only one body part at a time and telling myself to keep calm. Looking at it again, I think going right was much better. I can't imagine doing either way in the dark!! 😳 I'm shocked that more people aren't killed on that trail and wonder why the park service doesn't install some handles or chains. There were hundreds of people on the trail and at least 50 doing the whole trail the day we were there in Oct 24.

Going up is always easier than coming back down. Beautiful shots. The badlands are always so cool to visit. Drumheller too. Thank you for sharing. I haven't been able to hike in a few years due to a bad knee and this makes me miss it. Hinton has a lot of nice trails. There's an old ranch there and I know the family that owns it but it's a bit rundown. They take people on guided horse tours as well. Lovely family.

I appreciate what you're trying to do. But I don't think that's too stealthy? Personally, I would just run a large black sheet from the top of the front seats to the back and sleep under it like a tent. This way people can't see in when you're sleeping but you can see out and know what is going on around your vehicle.

You seem like more of a hiker than a climber. In the climbing world, this is normal. Many would do this without a rope, and the idea that these massive rocks are going to "fall off" is greatly exaggerated. You can knock on it with your palm: stuff that isn't solid sounds hollow, and he is doing that. Imo the only real criticisms are not enough water and emergency hear, and no way to call for rescue. Climbers dont use trekking poles to scramble, your hands are much more capable. The part you said was "the dangeous" was just a bit of easy low 5th class. The footholds may look small you, but those are not small. You'd be surprised how effective the feet can be. I think he has more climbing knowledge than you realize. So my real takaway here is actually your own lack of experience. This kind of thing is more the realm of climbing and mountaineering, and in that community, free soloing this is nothing crazy or "expert". Its low level.

Avoid Zpacks - even though hardly used and undamaged, my duplex leaks through a dozen or so invisible holes in the DCF. Because I'm a dry weather hiker, I didn't discover this until after the warranty period expired. zPacks response was "our tents have a limited life, here's some repair tape". So now I have a non-waterproof tent with repair patches all over it.

Great video! The shot you are looking at is a picture of the Athabasca Glacier, not the Saskatchewan Glacier. The cowboy looks to be at the viewpoint just southwest of Wilcox Pass.

What an absolutely amazing place you found David, thanks for bringing us with you, we don't have views like that in Manitoba! lol. We did fall in love with the devils punch bowl hike in spruce woods, its about 10 k loop with extra stops, we tracked wild hogs and gave the evidence to a group in Manitoba to get trapping permits, and I got all of my kids, and both parents out, my Dad who is 70 this year made it all the way to the punch bowl! Happy trails bud!
