His voice was that of the world. Ragin always gave us a powerful voice with huge resonance. If he had made his debut 15 to 20 years later, far more people would know him than they do now. It's very sad.

Je suis triste d'écouter D L R , dont la voix est si fatiguée.... même blanche ,et chevrotante par moments. Sa musicalité est intacte, mais la voix ne suit plus.

I had been in touch with my friend Brian years ago, up until his death. I still am saddened when I see his performances knowing that hes no longer with us. I bought one of his CD's: "The Dark is My Delight". As a classical composer I had spoken to Brian about writing an aria for him and he was delighted to sing music that Id written for him (sadly, we never got a chance) I am glad that we(at least) have recordings of Brian to hear his wonderful Countertenor voice and can share it with the world. :'( RIP Brian :(

The timbre is impressive no doubt for a male voice, however, I honestly find his voice to be too thin, you can't hear him sometimes even when he has a mic and tbh sometimes I don't even know what syllabe he is singing (something related to his lack of consonants). This is what I'd refer to as merely crooning. We don't do that it classical, as far as I'm aware, whether you're singing renaissance frottole, Peri madrigals or opera seria. I personally love his beautiful voice but technically I've heard better student singers. I mean, just listen to his sloppy runs in Ferrandini's "Soffre talor del vento".
