I think the gap between the Micky Mouse Club and being signed in 1997 she defo lost some technical ability, then after the producers had her retrained to sing with the “baby voice” tone - proper technique wasnt a priority and her voice wasn’t nurtured 😒

it still annoys me that her team pushed her so much as a performer rather than a singer. considering how common it is nowadays for pop girlies to still sing live while dancing, they could've easily put in the time, money, and effort to have trained her to be a competent vocalist while she performed.
@dolphinriah659013 күн бұрын
She sung and danced until around 2000, but like u said they pushed the choreo and the theatrics more than her as a singer and the vocals became more inconsistent and her voice wasn’t taken care of :/

If you watch the video before this (or some of it) you’ll see that she did somewhat explore her range and different stylistic choices, but the ‘baby voice’ became part of her brand and the focus was more on that + the dancing/performing

There is a large list of songs recorded between 1997-2000, which were not released, and videos between 1991-2000, my dream is to release everything, I am very obsessed with her voice at that time, and there is still that tape cassete from 1997 that was never released, it has her singing open arms in 1997 too and they didn't release anything!

Me too, anything from that period especially is vocally interesting to me...the transition from 2001-2002 also interests me bc her voice was more rested after touring but she didn't hold notes like she used to and used a lot more stylistic choices over technique

@YgorCortesКүн бұрын
Oh but she does NOT have an alto voice, not even close to it. She used to lower her larynx A LOT when she was younger to make her voice sound darker, but she's just far far away from a alto. Contralto have an androgynous quality to their voices that britney simply doesn't have EVEN when she lowers her larynx to the ground lol. Anyways, I absolutely love her voice, I just wish she would focus more on her technique, because she does have a beautiful voice!
@dolphinriah659014 сағат бұрын
Ur right she’s definitely not a contralto (in my non expert opinion lol) but she mostly sang in an alto *range* sometimes even tenor 😭? She’s clearly some kind of soprano with some natural weight to her voice (without lowering her larynx) imo
@YgorCortes10 сағат бұрын
@dolphinriah6590 I mean, voice types were made for operatic singing anyways, but I too would say she could be classified as an untrained soprano. The reason why she sings low-ish is precisely because of her lack of proper training imo

I've been fighting with people for YEARS saying that britney could actually sing and showed her vocals multiple times but they were too focused on the performances with her baby voice or her insane stage presence/dance. I love/hate how during the bomt era she would fight to keep the baby voice and then release her deep voice and come back for the baby voice in a few seconds😭 like that one silent nighh performance
@dolphinriah659029 күн бұрын
Doing choreo while having to consciously sing in a way that doesn't come naturally (which i'm sure she could've done healthier but still) meant her vocals were more limited, then when singing ballads she'd usually sound decent but she still held back too much or didn't warm up enough idk... She sung with the deeper tone on the Oops tour sometimes too, but by 2002 her voice sounded damaged to the point where she'd loss range (temporarily)

Actually is not that hard to make her sing like she used to. She just need to OPEN THAT MOUTH. Noticed how as she grows older she no longer open her mouth and she actually closed them, making it sound constrained. She needs to just let it go. And she also needs to stop manipulating her voice, stop making that awful baby voice and just let her voice flows naturally. I would love it to see for her next album (If she is ever planning on making a comeback), that she will produced lots and lots of big powerful ballads. I envision that album to have somewhat of a Toni Braxton album vibe. And at her age, it's only fitting that her next come back will be more focused towards adult contemporary music. Gosh imagine if she released AC music for her next album and just slays & imagine if she ended up winning a Grammy for vocal category. Would have been the greatest comeback in history.
