2024! Wished I’d found this 3 years ago. Been living with broken / open / hanging down lid for YEARS, thinking there Must Be A Way, or the day I can afford a new one. Well I have an older home and suspect its a heavier metal. Found the mags on Amazon with a review from a guy who also had watched this hack- what are the odds! - he said the mags were the size recommended here. I bought a set of 4 for about 7.00. I placed all four spaced along the edge and There It Was! Closed! I tied something to it so i can pull it open. I am so grateful, but also shocked that for once a simple hack worked - for Me!

I have replaced 3 of these valves because the gear teeth wear out or the valve allows water to collect in the bottom and rust. Im over the expense name brands to get lousy service life. I am going to give the cheap knock off brand a try.

Just an FYI.....Moen has a lifetime warranty. I just recently called their customer service, told them I have a slow drip, gave them my model number and address and bam a week later 2 cartridges arrived at my door at no cost to me.

I’m curious how you removed that small piece from the very top of the handle. Is a screw in there?

The small silver cap above the color ring just pops off. There is a small screw inside that secures the handle to the bell housing. On my particular faucet, I didn't really need to remove the screw to remove the bell housing. The whole bell housing just twist off without removing the screw on top.

Thank you for this excellent video! So often KZbin videos don't show the sticking points in a job and don't offer the tricks to overcome them. You shoe them all. Seeing someone make a mistake or have difficulty with something and solve them is golden. The only other problem I had, and you didn't, was getting the faucet handle trim to unscrew because of some lime deposits. I had to loosen the faucet nut below the countertop a little bit to release the trim and retighten the nut in order to avoid damaging the trim. Great video!

If the faucet is leaking, the quarter turns may need to be replaced. you can check this by turning off water to the faucet, if drip continues then quarter turns are bad

I have the old model of GE profile gas stove with downdraft cooktop. It appears my gas stove head is one piece and I cannot remove the cap like you do. There are two side screws to remove the whole base inside of the cabinet. I cleared each hole with alcohols rub and needle and it still doesn’t work. Is there an easier way to fix the stove heads?

Phenomenal way to remove the cartridge. I am struggling to remove a faulty one. Update: I succeeded in removing the cartridge using the method shown in this video. Before I saw this video I had managed to punch my left eye extremely hard when the needle nose pliers lost grip on the cartridge. Here are the instruments I used: 1. Everbilt 10-24 TPI 3-1/2 in machine screws (gently thread the screw all the way - till you face no resistance) 2. Harbor Freight PITTSBURGH 15 in. Long Reach Locking Pliers 3. Husky screwdriver handle as the the fulcrum

Recently, I could not remove the plastic retainer ring with corrosion and calcium buildup. The plastic retainer ring got shredded in the process of trying to loosen the ring. Because Moen has record that I am the original owner of the faucet, the sent me a new valve body which includes new cartridge and retainer ring. Great video. For anyone out there needed to replace one, I recommend replacing both while you're at it. If you don't, you'll end up doing it sooner or later anyway and you'll have to relearn the procedure all over again.
