I feel like you! The light is changing in January. Yes, it is cold but I just put away the “ heavy “ dark clothes from the holidays and am wearing the softer colors that seem to reflect the new light

I have a beautiful coat my husband and I gifted to my mum. She loved it so much and as much as I love the coat too, at this moment in time I cannot bring myself to wear it. However, I will keep it and one day who knows.

I am so glad I found this video.I had my daughter at a very young age, so she was with me through a lot of important things like graduating from high school (in my belly), and graduating from college. We had a lot of the same interests and one of the things we shared were tea parties. We would have a special tea subscription and a snack. About a year after graduating high school, and 2 years after my dad was called home by the good Lord, she decided that she wanted to travel the world with some friends.I was not prepared and cried for weeks. I became quite depressed. Eventually, my MIL got through to me and kept sending me Messianic worship songs. God healed me through that music. My daughter is still travelling and has graduated from college. She is a successful graphic artist. We stay in contact and she still calls me for advice that can easily be found on the internet, but I do not remind her of course. She still remembers the tea subscriptions, and in her care package I always include one. We send care packages every year to each other. She also visits us every year. She was able to see my family in South Korea. I am so proud of my daughter. I still do hope that one day she will want to stay here in the US. Thank you so much for this encouraging video❤

Loved this video, Nikki! Because of you, I have been inspired to wear dresses almost every day during the cold months for the first time ❤ Especially now that you’re living in a 4 season climate and show how you dress warmly for true winter weather. So thank you! Also, as a colour consultant I can assure you that grey works well with your colouring and doesn’t wash you out 😉

Hello Nikki, Have you tried adding a silk or silky scarf at the neckline to block the chill? I do this and it’s remarkable how a real silk scarf is so lightweight but a great wind barrier.

Thank you again for this wonderfull, inspiering video. I do also wear a big scarf i have a soft, light but very cozy and elegant cashmere poncho to throw over me like you do with your blanket scarf and it is the best addition even in spring and autumn to go outside when you don‘t need a coat yet but want some extra warmth

It has been interesting to see your style evolve. To my eye your current style is a mix of Ballerina (soft cardigans and chiffon skirts, floaty dresses), Bridal (light colours - cream, blush and dusty blue) Sparkle, Regal (brooches). If I put those all together, for a winter wardrobe, I am getting "Snow Queen" vibes! A fun look for inspiration. You could add in some cream fur (faux), white/silver feathers, real or a metal brooch, regal fabrics such as soft velvets, brocades, jacquards. The blue Bridgerton Morning Room you like is very Snow Queen. I live in the UK, we are going through a cold snap here. Your winter dresses are more what I would wear in the Spring/Summer. I'm currently sat here with an electric fleece blanket on my lap to keep warm. Funnily enough, I do have a Snow Queen style cape in soft white velvet and faux fur, that I bought for fancy dress. Maybe I should wear it :) Not sure what my husband would think.

Hi Nikki, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your videos. There’s such a peacefulness in everything you share-from the calming colors of your home and wardrobe to the soothing music and your gentle voice. It’s clear that you’ve found a deeper sense of contentment since your move; it really shines through in your videos. Your content has been such an inspiration to me, and I’ve been wearing dresses exclusively for years now because of your influence. Thank you for sharing your life and light with us!

I knew there was a reason that I started looking at your channel again. I lost both my parents in a 7 week period at the end of 2024 and I bought a large, lined journal from a Christian bookstore so as to write and reflect on the time I spent with them in palliative care and in their last moments. Now your video on writing with intention has given me the prompting to start that and I know it is a gentle prompt from God to help me grieve. Thank you Nikki for your honesty and encouragement, Cate.

Nikki, you have been so helpful with advice on wearing dresses in the winter. You're totally correct about the importance of length. Just 2-3 inches longer can make the difference in keeping your legs warm. I'm going to try the dress you're wearing (thanks for the link), as it seems perfect. Thank you so much! 💕

Your clothing is organized in such a pretty, color-coordinated way. Of special note, I absolutely love the idea of using a butter dish for brooches. What a creative use for something I have only used as a decorative accent! Thank you, Nikki!

How wonderful that your cry to God was so genuine and as a result of Him working in your life and helping you to see changes needed. It is a beautiful thing to be in the middle of such an experience and to see Him answering you so wonderfully. You can now use that thankfulness to glorify and bless Him with your life. Continue to be the light on the hill Nikki. He is the Master Gardener and you are blooming where He has planted you. Blessings from Australia and yes, you do inspire me to make a beautiful and blessed home for my family every single day. Cate Nunan.

That gorgeous deep red coat would look beautiful in February. I understand you want a break from the deeper colors, but I know you could put together a gorgeous color story in feb with pinks and reds. I've never liked valentines day, but recently find myself embracing it in fashion and small home decor touches as a nice distraction or midway point of cold, dark winter.

Hi Nikki, I really admired how you organized your clothes by color - it looks great! I wanted to offer a small suggestion regarding your coats. To keep them in the best possible condition when not in use, it’s helpful to hang them on sturdy, well-sized hangers in a designated closet space to avoid wrinkles and preserve their shape. For delicate or high-end coats, using garment bags is a great way to protect them from dust and light. Since you've chosen to fold them and store them in drawers and wicker baskets, one idea I’d recommend is using Huon pine blocks to help repel moths. I’ve learned from my own experience over the years how important it is to protect these beautiful pieces - I’ve unfortunately had a few of my favorite coats ruined before. I’ve been watching Hilary for over a decade, since her oldest was a baby, and we share similar skin tones, though I have blue eyes like you. I’m sure you’re planning on staying in your new home, and I know finding good quality coats that suit your personal style can be a challenge. I hope this advice is helpful, and I truly want your pieces to stay in great shape for years to come! Xoxo Susan 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️❤️

WOW!! Your videos on wardrobe have consistently been my favorite! I’m always inspired by your wardrobe videos !! Take a look at the cardigans by the brand Simple Retro. They really pay attention to the pretty little details ! I sometimes wear a pretty ballet sweater by Morning Lavender over my nightgown in the Winter if I want a little extra warmth while reading in bed. I’m looking forward to more of your Winter Wardrobe videos !! ❄️

Cotton or linen layers are helpful to stay warm in dresses. I personally wear a full chemise, a long petticoat and since most of my dresses are cotton, with mid length sleeves, i make the necklines either a v, square or scoop, and in the colder months, i wear a long sleeve, higher neck, slim fitting top under my dress. I stay warm without the bulk and i can love every detail of every piece. Not saying sacrificing for the sake of warmth is horrible, just tossin out ideas from days gone by. Look into how women in Edwardian era layered to keep warm. 😉 I love the sweaters! I never look at clothing at Ross, but i might now.

I watch yours and Old World Home channels. I love wearing dresses. With my constant body fluctuations due to medical conditions, I have different styles of dresses in my closet. The sweater dress would not look appealing on my body type. However, Nikki, the dress suits you well. I purchased the fleece lined tights after watching the initial video discussing them. I agree with keeping you warm. Both channels have been an encouragement to wearing dresses daily for dresses do make one feel prepared for the day.

A dress only gal here too! 👏🏻 I also have a specific style of dress that I gravitate towards and that’s what I stick with! For me, it has to be a shirred bodice and I love a midi / maxi length and bonus bonus for a puff sleeve haha as a new mama who hopes she will have a handful more babies over the years, my dresses also have to be functional for breastfeeding. Prior to conceiving, I realized I love the shirred bodice style and knew that would work for me in pregnancy and postpartum with breastfeeding for many years to come! When my breastfeeding days come to an end one day, there are different styles I’d like to experiment with dress wise but I love how feminine and functional the style I wear every day is! I love that Amazon wrap dress you’re wearing btw 😍

I too wear all dress/skirts, and I live in a climate that isn't always cold but it can be very cold at times. I love to incorporate deep reds and greens before Christmas, but after the holidays are over I want to see violets, pinks, and other lighter and more "spring" colors to get me through until spring! Incorporating something of a "theme" to my wardrobe really helps make homemaking more fun!

Speaking of your cruise, I have a couple of questions: How did you go about choosing one? Did you do all the prep work yourself or did you go through an agency? Were there any choices you made (where to go, what to do, what to bring, etc) that worked out really well? Any that didn't? Is there anything you'd do differently? I ask because my husband and I want to send his parents on a cruise (Caribbean) for their anniversary. They did not have a honeymoon, nor had they ever had a real vacation until they were in their 50s, and it wasn't anything spectacular. I'm open to suggestions from anyone and have been doing homework for some time now but thought I'd ask. The biggest things I've found thus far is the type of cruise you choose, where the cabin is located on the ship, and BOOK EARLY. Any tips (from anyone) are welcome 😊 Btw, I totally agree on buttons and brooches!! ❤

Proverbs 29:11 tells us ‘A stupid person gives vent to all his feelings, But the wise one calmly keeps them in check’ this is something I always tried to inculcate into my children. Before we speak we should always ask ourselves. What I am about to say ~ Is it true? Is what you're saying honest and accurate? Is it kind? Is what you're saying respectful and considerate? Is it helpful? Will what you're saying be useful to the other person. Then when we have answered those questions, we can determine whether what we are about to say is necessary.

Hi Nikki, You daughter was so right. Very often we can be so concerned about what others think of us and how we look, that we can never truly be how WE want to be. There is a fine balance between not wanting to neglect our appearance and putting too much emphasis on it. Your grandma looked as though she knew how to find that balance. She was elegant and yet modest too. Something she passed onto you without a doubt. ❤
