This Amp is out of this world. I have got the 100W version. With that 5th setting ( FET+ PAB boost+ High Filter bypass) it does make a very sweet overdriven sound. Resembles me of a Bluesbreaker style Boost/ Overdrive like a KOT. But to Bypass the filter you have to turn it completely to the left, not right. Now the Amp is not a one trick pony. It does Mayer to SRV. It’s also a fantastic pedal platform. I can play easily any genre up to classic rock. One more thing to add is that it has a great inbuilt analog spring reverb. As these Dumble SSS amps are only available through custom shops like Ceriatone, the price is unbeatable. It will be less than half of a Two Rock( I don’t have one for comparison though). Last thing, it’s not mid scooped like a Fender Amp. But it’s not like a Marshall also. It seats in the middle.

That was a hell of a showcase, Wan! I should get the amp by the end of the week, and now I'm even more excited. The amp turned out exactly how I dreamed it would, guys. It started out as an amp that could do Eric Gales-type clean tones, and it doesn't disappoint there. Also, Carlos Santana OD. Your Santana licks can't be a coincidence Wan lol. Thanks, Nik! Putting up with all my questions and wants to make this happen was a lot of work. I'm looking forward to doing business with you again in the future.

@@ceriatoneAmp Thanks, Nik? I was wondering if Brian could give some more detail, though. Can't say which is more reliable, but Thoman sells a TAD RT822 KT66 Duett for $81+ you might try next tube change. They are a bit more "lively" than the JJ KT66. All JJ ecc83S preamp tubes also makes for a more hard/crunchy sound than with some other affordable options. The ecc83MG is a bit smoother and more open. The Milspec EHx 7025EH is a sweet sounding 12ax7 variant worth trying.

@GCKelloch I actually bought a pair of Gold Lions to test. These JJ's have exceeded my expectations, though. Also, I've heard great things about the TAD tubes as well.

I like it with the LNFB down (off?) and with the tube rec. Sounds a bit hard/cold otherwise. Could partially be the guitar. Stainless frets? Say, what's the body wood? Nice cherry burst finish. BTW, "Global" GNFB is the one for the amp section. I prefer that off as well. My understanding is that KT66 tubes stay tighter than 6L6GC without any GNFB. It sounds fatter off, but still pretty tight. Tube choices make some difference. JJ KT66 are crunchier than the Gold Lion KT66-- more like a KT88.
@ceriatoneAmp
@ceriatoneAmp 14 күн бұрын
I think SS frets indeed. Not sure of the specs, it's Wan's new guitar, hot off the press. As for GNFB, it alters the NFB resistor value, so it's not exactly turning it off.

Invest in good attenuator (such as the Two Notes Torpedo Captor X) if you want to be able to use these amps for bedroom/home usage. Good ones are expensive (the one I mentioned is $600), but they are essential if you have high wattage/very loud tube amps.

What a massive punchy sound it has. All those options seem to allow it to cover more ground than an all axis Plexi. One caveat: having an actual tube rec is a bit wasteful. That can be emulated with a resistor on the B+ from the PSU, I think it is. Would anyone really notice the difference from a real tube rec?
@ceriatoneAmp
@ceriatoneAmp 20 күн бұрын
No, it's not same. Tube rectifier is non linear, in that it presents "resistance" differently with changing draw. A resistor will have a fixed value. The tone and feel are not same, unless what's played is a constant single note at a constant level, all the time.

@@the92project JJ ecc83S tubes have a hard crunch that emphasises upper-mids. I think it's the tight vacuum. Some people like the clarity, but it's a bit much with a HiWatt. The EL34s aren't bad, but there are sweeter current EL34s. Thankfully, the WGS ET65 speakers smooth it off a bit. I had all Sylvania and GE tubes in my DR103 in the late 70s. It makes a difference.
