Get a wooden lazy susan from a thrift store, glue a plastic sheetrock sleeve (or drill a hole and insert a wooden record-sized hole peg) in the middle, and there you are. You can also attach some felt circles with the adhesive on one side onto the top of the lazy susan if you’re so inclined. The cheapest record vac system ever, especially if you already have a small wet/dry vac or Green Machine.

Just bought mine and is coming in the mail got the 33 version. Very excited. I alread made the lazy Susan so just waiting for delivery. I mean a vaccum is a vaccum is a vacuum i just couldn't bring my self to spend 600+ on a vpi machine that does the same thing. Hoping this last me awhile until i get a Humminguru

If you have a small collection this would work fine but Ultrasonic is the only way to go with a Large collection as it allow me to clean 8 albums in 15 minutes.

Even better would be to ultrasonic wash first, rinse with distilled and use this vacuum to take care of the residual distilled rinse water.

Hey audiophiles James, let me tell you this system works. I put one together for $33 including a vacuum pump. The PVC I got for free from Home Depot. No problem I had a drill I could cut it out no issues there have one working in less than 25 minutes. Spent less than $28. Found a vacuum and a secondhand store for $12 can be done and will be done save your money put it together. Simple doesn’t take a rocket scientist. Enjoy guys.

Would there be a problem using a 4.5HP shop vac? That's what I currently have but don't want to burn up the motor if not enough air can get through the Vinyl Vac attachment.

Thanks for reaching out. That may be a little too much HP depending on your set up. You can purchase a fan speed controller to regulate this: www.amazon.com/s?k=fan+speed+controller&crid=1SK76ACSHFPEU&sprefix=fan+speed%2Caps%2C208&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_9

Hi David, Thanks for reaching out. If you are saying that your vacuum hose is 2.5" you will need an adapter. The Vinyl Vac 33 is designed to fit a U.S. standard 1.25" or 1.5" vacuum hose. All The Best, Ron Miller - Vinyl Vac

Like some others, I made my own vacuum tube, but I would still highly recommend buying this instead of the standard "record cleaning kits" in the same price range. Although you might need/want to spend more money on top of it for a wetvac and turntable, it's a way more effective cleaning method in comparison.

Don’t be horrified by my suggestion on record maintenance after cleaning with my Vpi 16.5 I use simply a 360 degree Swiffer duster for maintenance between vpi cleanings and it works superbly and also relieves static crackle. These Swiffer probably contain some thing to attract dust to the Swiffer material but I hear no down side or dust attraction after use. This does not replace periodic wet cleanings.

Got me one of these. Went and bought a lazy susan and a wet dry vac from walmart. I have to say, I was surprised how well this thing worked for the price. It does what it's advertised to do. One thing though is about every 3 or 4 record cleanings, I had to wash the velvet area that contacts the record. It got to where it was leaving a dusty residue on the vinyl. But cleaning the vinyl vac cured that issue. I would guess the dirtier the records you clean the more you would need to clean the velvet part on the vinyl vac, But very happy with mine.

I use a cheap crosley suitcase record player for using my Vinyl Vac. I attach it to my red Dirt Devil handheld vacuum just to suck out the dust first from the record. Then after that I use my spin clean to wet clean the record and then I finnish up by using my antistatic gun and my records sound fantastic. Very clean sounding with hardly any surface noise. The Vinyl Vac also comes with a round felt piece to use so you don't scratch your record labels. I used double sided tape and stuck it on the hole of the Vinyl Vac so it is permanently on it the way the rest of the felt is. Much better that way. I kept losing it when it was not attached.

Is there any down-side to air drying your records on a rack? I mean besides the wait time. It's my understanding that distilled water evaporates without leaving any residue or spots.
@vinylvac
@vinylvac 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. If you run your records through a cleaning solution and simply air dry them on a rack you are leaving dirt and grime behind that is embedded in the grooves. One of the best ways to truly lift that nasty embedded dirt and grime is to extract it with the Vinyl Vac 33 system.

I was just wondering, when you use the distilled water to rinse, how often should you change the contents in the tub? As obviously the cleaning fluid will be going in there when you put the sponge in there. Thanks

It's really up to your own discretion. When the rinse water becomes discolored is usually when I change mine out.

This 'solution' is way too risky. You're potentially grinding the surface of your records with that paint brush and the padded strips on the vacuum have to be perfectly aligned, clean, and with minimal pressure otherwise you'll scratch the surface of your records. Pleae, be careful with your records.
