God I love mine! I actually had an old, cheap Jensen record player. I used that as my lazy Susan.

Very nice. Only one small criticism, depending on what cleaning solution used. The distilled water step with the foam brush isn't as much rinsing the solution off, as it is diluting it. Wetting the record with distilled water after the initial clean/vac, then vacuuming again would insure all of the solution is removed from the surface. Nice looking, well priced device, BTW.
@vinylvac6 жыл бұрын
Good point, I typically saturated the foam brush and make a pass, then saturated it again (rinsing it) and then make another pass in the opposite direction. If the Vinyl Vac is used directly after this I'm pretty confident it sucks up any remaining rinse water and remnants of cleaner left behind. At least I don't notice any left behind and it doesn't show up on my stylus.
@vinylvac5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind words and comment. We have had good success with the distilled water rinse and then vacuuming with the Vinyl Vac. The rinse step, if at best dilutes the cleaning solution the Vinyl Vac extracts all from the vinyl record surface and playback greatly improved. We now offer the Vinyl Vac Concentrate Cleaner as well, which has been very effective in the cleaning process.

Excellent video. Two suggestions. Break it into 2 steps. Vacuum off the cleaner and then do a separate rinse step to make sure you get all the cleaning gunk off. And instead of using a foam brush for the rinse use a separate clean paint pad. Thanks.

If you have a small collection this would work fine but Ultrasonic is the only way to go with a Large collection as it allow me to clean 8 albums in 15 minutes.
@LukeOranje7 ай бұрын
Even better would be to ultrasonic wash first, rinse with distilled and use this vacuum to take care of the residual distilled rinse water.

Finally found a cheap lazy susan at goodwill! One quick question. Is there any need to dry the record after cleaning or is the vac enough?
@TheAgeOfAnalog6 жыл бұрын
It will likely still be almost imperceptibly wet, but a few minutes in a drying rack and it should be good to play or sleeve.
@vinylvac5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. If used properly, The Vinyl Vac with a wet/dry vac will dry your record completely.

This is where I got the idea to just make my own attachments to hook to a mini shop vac. The only things that cost me anything was my brush & fluid.
@williamhabes7 жыл бұрын
how'd you drill through the center without messing up the sub-platter mechanism? I've looked all over for lazy susans where I could drill a hole for the peg, however all of the ones I found have the sub-platter connected with a bolt in the center.
@vinylvac7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. The lazy susan I used in the video evidently is made a little different than many others. It's design allowed me to drill a hole in the center. I would think you could glue a wooden peg on top of the lazy susan. I would use a very strong glue. The lazy susan I used in the video was from Goodwill. Hope this helps.

I was just wondering, when you use the distilled water to rinse, how often should you change the contents in the tub? As obviously the cleaning fluid will be going in there when you put the sponge in there. Thanks
@vinylvac2 жыл бұрын
It's really up to your own discretion. When the rinse water becomes discolored is usually when I change mine out.

I want to buy the Vinyl Vac and just use it to dry vac my albums before I put them through my Spin Clean system. Some of the used albums I get are in great condition except for the dust and hairs I occasionally find on them.
@vinylvac5 жыл бұрын
For the best results I would wet vac your records with the Vinyl Vac and wet/dry vac. You can use the Spin-Clean and then incorporate a rinse step with distilled water and then vacuum with the Vinyl Vac and a wet/dry vac.

I have a question, if I am cleaning multiple records, do I need to clean/replace the edge trimmer? If I need to clean it, how do I do it? Also, can one clean off the easy liner? If so, how?
@vinylvac4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. This would depend on how dirty your records are and how many you are cleaning. You can clean off the edge trimmer by put a small dab of Dawn on it and use your finger to lightly scrub and rinse at your sink. You can also buy replacements of the edger pad itself and replacement when necessary. Regarding the easy liner, I would suggest having a separate liner piece to put down on the lazy susan after you have cleaned the first side of a record. That way you are putting the side just cleaned on a clean easy liner piece. Some have used microfiber clothes on top of the edge liner and swamp them out as needed. I hope this helps. All The Best, Ron

Hello I just clicked the link to the lazy Susan in the link. It’s 15 inches from Ikea, wouldn’t that be a bit hard to pick up your record instead of the one your using which the record hangs off a tiny bit ? What size lazy Suzan are you using in the video ?
@vinylvac5 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, Thanks for reaching out. This is an older video. This is the lazy susan we recommend now: amzn.to/2DoSjQs You might find the updated video on this page more useful: www.vinylvac.net/recordcleaningsystem If you have any questions just shoot us an email at info@vinylvac.net

Vinyl Vac thanks. Also. The paint pad you use to clean the record at first.. is it foam or is it a bunch of little bristles ? I bought one at Lowe’s that’s red and it looks like a bunch of carpet fibers. I was worried would scratch records. Is this what you are using ?

Should the liner, brush pad, and foam brush be changed out when cleaning multiple records?

""The Vinyl Vac is designed to fit any 1.25" vac hose." What is that in centimeters? Maybe this is not the size on vacum cleaners in Europe/Scandinavia?
@vinylvac6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sture, Thanks for reaching out. 1.25" is 3.175 cm. The Vinyl Vac will also fit 1.5" (3.81 cm). We recommend the Stanley 1.5hp 1 Gal wet/dry vac available in the U.S. at Walmart.

Thanks. Mine is 2,9 so it won´t work. Maybe it is different Usa and Europe? But mine is about 20 years old. Maybe you only sell in Usa so it doesn´t matter?

Thanks. I´m sending it now. The "pads" (or what you call it) on the tube that touches the vinyl .... don´t they get dirty so you have to change them often?

Depending on how dirty the vinyl records are and what your cleaning method is will determine how soon you'll need to replace the pads. Your Vinyl Vac 33 comes with a pair of replacement pads. After that you can order replacement pads from our website.
