Pro x is annoying. No instructions as well, and doesn't fit right off the bat. Has all these random sizes of sticky rubber pads

Great information Mr Gash. I’m playing a GEWA g3 and have already swapped the hi hats. After seeing this I will swap the ride next. Very useful video. I used to play bass for Elkie Brooks late 80’s early 90’s and i think we played that venue. 😊

Thank you for the advice and for taking the time to make the video to share. I played a hybrid kit on the road in 1986 using A's and Simmons pads through a roland brain with a real snare drum and a trigger mounted. I wish they had made these then, it would have solved so many problems. Now with your Gash tape trick, I can do my small club retirement gigs using my favorite hybrid kit. Keep sharing you have so much knowledge to pass along.🌵

always fun drumming with sticks! : ) I had a question - is there a way that tr8s can remember the changes so you dont need to set it up each time you turn off/on?
@jono5402 ай бұрын
I would guess, just save it as part of a kit or in the global settings, but I'm not sure tbh.

How do you get to be a pantomime drummer
@jono5403 ай бұрын
Go to your local venue that puts on pantomimes and start asking who puts on the production, then find the MD in the company and pitch him for the job. Or look on line for drummers wanted.

How’s the rx3 doing today? Still enjoy it?
@jono5405 ай бұрын
Actually I’m only just starting to use and enjoy it. Nearly sold it due to non use. For all my gigs I take a DDJ 400. But even after all this time, it’s relevant, and still was the right choice. May start gigging it soon.

@@jono540 that's good to know. I have a flx4 and the ease of portability for small gigs is huge. I definitely got bit by the USB bug after playing on CDJs and stand-alone units 😂

have you ever experimented this with triggers on low volume cymbals? Would this still dampen them enough for triggers? I live in Kansas City and I think a lot of jazz drummers i know who do wedding/dinner gigs would really get some benefit out of this.

4 years later and this video is still relevant !😁 Also the TR8S unlike the TR8 is also a sampler. I have several multi-pads, but good to know I can use the TR8S as a sampler with drum pads ! Thanks for the upload. PS: TR8S also has a main trigger out-put and individual trigger outputs (Some cool YT videos on its use). Remarkable machine.

I have just tossed my old electronic kit away and set up my 4 piece kit(18”BD) with the new evans DB one heads and got a cheap set of low volume cymbals. It dosnt take up much more room but I get to play my acoustic kit to practise as well. I also saw where someone added one of those Yamaha EAD microphones and plays live with them in a situation needing a lower volume. This video is great to give me some ideas if I need to go down that road as well. Thanks for taking the time to explain your cymbal set up. Cheers!

Yep just got mine yesterday 😂db one heads and wuhan Ora cymbals they sound so much better and feel good compared to my electric drum kit
@sebastiangomezmusic9 ай бұрын
I was experimenting with that for home lessons and student recitals cuz I hated making students learn on an electric drumset and also arrived at taping and it makes a good difference I wonder if different tape, or even some adhesive tin or copper foil would change the tone or resonance?
@gordonhobbs1269 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for this Its a game changer My zildjian L80s sound so much better now whith just one stip of tape on each cymbal and same with the hats I can now record at home with my hybrid roland kit and only need one condenser mic overhead rather than 5 mics and a mixer thanks again your a star G PS keep music live

any advice / ideas to get my low volume cymbals to be quieter ?
@dovemaarika16689 ай бұрын
i honestly think low volumes cymbals should be and will become the standard. traditional cymbals are just too freaking loud for practice and small gigs which is what most of us are doing. the traditional cymbals have screaming loud frequencies that make you go deaf and cause everyone to have to crank loud as hell during practice and its really not necessary for 97% of uses. The low volumes sound great when recording me and my friends just jamming in a room and the mix in the room sounds much more balanced and tolerable. 20:40 and good point here didnt realize how much freedom low volumes offered just another reason i believe they will become the new standard Thanks for these tips very interesting and knowledgeable will definitely put these concepts into practice
@octaviodominguez77728 ай бұрын
Agree I have had hearing problems recently because I play heavy cymbals at church I started looking into low volume they sound just as good with mods like these and are way better for my ears and my peers as well

I just got a Pearl Traveler kit for small venues, convenience, and storage issues and added inexpensive Resanito lo-volume cymbals. They sound 'pretty good' but I'm experimenting with various sizzler additions and now I'm definitely going to add Gash Tape to my experiments. Thanks for taking time to make and share this.
