We believe we can clear up a misunderztandung. That's indeed a good question. Yes, it is correct that of course it is in fact the case that Chief Air Marshall Frederick William Bowhill, Air chief marshal Sir Frederick William Bowhill, GBE, KCB, CMG, DSO & Bar (1 September 1880 - 12 March 1960), a senior commander in the Royal Air Force before and during World War II, of course did not state at anytime that the Gloster Meteor was a lacklustre or dismal aircraft & nobody ever claimed that Gloster engineers tried everything but flying it backwards. Cheers 👍 & 😎 & of course 🙂 indeed. _Toodle_ *PIP* *-Old-* *_Chaps_* Hope this helps 👍 .. . .. . ... .... . . .... . ..... ...... xcvvvvvvvviix cvvvvvvcvcvv

I'm here after being heartbroken after seeing Thruscross yesterday for the first time since 2019 after the moved away from the area 😢 I didn't know what had happened, I only saw 2 other on my walk, so gutted not to be able to walk down by the brook before you go up onto the moors

*The basic overall design of the Meatbox was fatally flawed.* *Gloster continuously tried to improve the aircraft eg; improved tail, stronger fuselage and different wings, stronger wings, ect.* *Unfortunately as a result of being very hastily converted from a twin propeller driven nightfighter design it was plagued with flaws inherent to the fundamental design.* *It was directionally unstable at nearly all speeds and tended to pitch down uncontrollably at low speeds and a nasty tendency to snap into a flat spin at high speed.* *The asymmetric handling was appallingly and was considered unrecoverable and fatal during take-off or a go- around.* *RAF Cheif Air Marshall Sir Frederick William Bowhill called the Meatbox a quote; **_"a truly dismal and lackluster aircraft"_* *Sydney Camm said Gloster tried everything but flipping the engines and pilot seat around and flying it backwards.*

Another great one, and rightly drawing much deserved attention to the merchant navy and the essential role they played. I had heard that merchant sailors lost pay privileges from the point of the ship's loss, so the sometimes weeks still at sea in desperate conditions awaiting possible rescue was "unpaid overtime". I had a great uncle who was a conscientious objecter who joined the merchant navy and was torpedoed 3 times, twice spending (once more particularly) extensive time before getting picked up.

Great stuff. It's not often I learn about a battle I'd not heard of, especially, embarrassingly one from a well explored period almost on my doorstep. Thank you for enlightening me. Nice, concise but packed with all the useful relevant stuff. Looking forward exploring more from you.

It’s kind of hard to take the allegories to colonialism seriously, especially nowadays since we know a lot of the "uncomfortable realities" about European colonialism are either half truths or straight up lies. So it makes sense that modern adaptations don’t include them since the old European empires are practically gone so propaganda slandering them is a mute point🤷🏻‍♂️

We love your videos and have even bought your book. If I may suggest a topic. My great grandmother was born in Wentworth, her father was listed on the 1851 census as a gardener born in Long Thorpe Cambridgeshire. Research shows many of his relatives worked at Wentworth Woodhouse and it’s assumed he did as well. The wonderful book Black Diamonds by Catherine Bailey solved the mystery of why he moved to Yorkshire, a tranfere from Milton Hall near Long Thorpe owned by the son of the owner of Wentworth Woodhouse Earl Fitzwilliamaiam I’m sure you could make a brilliant You Tube video about the Big House and the Fitzwilliam dynasty.

At the time of 1381 the hierarchy of the church like Sudbury were very much involved in politics , as they remained in to this day sitting in the House Of Lords . He was advocating the unfair Poll Tax and was rightly seen as the " Peasants " enemy . Of course tithes were further burdening the poorer people . Ironically it was the King himself , Henry Viii , who destroyed much of the power and wealth of the church . His reformation was not really about doctrine but just a way for Henry to get rich . It's quite well known that he preferred the catholic liturgy .

Wycliffe should be more famous . Most of the reform ideas were taken up by Luther years later . Luther turned out to be a reactionary in fact . Being in latin the clergy was able to subvert the true teaching of the Gospel and make their own alternative narrative and lifestyle . Amazingly even though people can mostly read , at least in the West . Christian groups still follow a right wing political agenda ; completely alien to Christs teachings . John Bull was certainly influential in the Peasant's Revolt and he was influenced by Lollards . Later we have the Levellers in the time of Cromwells take over . Of course he may have been willing to kill the king but he didn't want equality . Of course the Acts of the Apostles ; clearly show early christian practice a sort of communal lifestyle with no hierarchy .

Nicely done Catherine . I am the son of a Bevin boy and coal miner . My father was sent to the collieries at 17 in Lancashire. He stayed in the mines after the war and eventually ended up in Doncaster, where he was mine rescue and miner. He died at 64 with congestive heart failure, due to damaged lungs from the coal dust .
