Adventure bikes are the dual sports of current days. While the "old school" dual sport guys, stuck on their clapped out drz400s, want to be hard enduro so, so bad.

100% agree with everything you said. I’ve ridden all manner of bikes in the fifty years I’ve been riding and I currently smile endlessly riding my 2002 Yamaha TDM 900. Comfy on roads and capable on dirt roads with a soundtrack to die for.

I'm grateful to Chinese manufacturers CFMoto and Kove for trying to sell us lightweight off road oriented ADV bikes with enough power for highway use. We've begged the Big Moto cartel for a bike like that for decades and they told us to pound sand and buy their bloated and expensive mid and full size adventure bikes. Now, BMW is forced to sell us the F450GS.

I appreciate the hell out of this video. I live in the US and a huge problem in our culture is we think we are the best and everything is crap if not created by the US. While from an economic standpoint it's great to buy from local (made in usa) companies, we miss out on seeing opportunities like cfmoto. I heavily considered cfmoto before the T7 and will likely buy one in the future for various reasons. Im almost regretful that I didn't buy one over the T7. Some things that were off putting were for the price point of 7k for a 450 and a price of 11k for their 800 i wanted larger displacement for highway use when needed and the T7 answered that at 11k new (lower in my circumstances) but with a proven reliability ingrained into the pedigree of the cp2. I first seen CFmoto at a now closed local Yamaha dealer. And in my closed mindedness thought it was just a polished turd from China. Parts accessibility, aftermarket support, crappy welds were things that I was scared of uncovering once I bought one. I have seen few but not many videos like yours here on the cfmoto. I urge people to really consider the brand. As an underdog company in some aspects, the amount of fight they have to dish out to compete in 2024 market of technology and performance of the heavy hitter brands speaks loudly of their willingness to succeed and one day will be seen as part of major brands and will be outperforming. Branding kills alot of great opportunities. If I could make a decent living in my area with a cycle/atv shop, I would nearly beg CFmoto to be the name on the side of the building. Because I watch brands mark up based off their names alone. We all see it. I hope my son in years to come (about 3) wants to get an adv bike of his own which would give me a perfect excuse to buy another one and unless things change i am heavily considering cfmoto as one of the bikes. And will be hard not to try and actually persuade him to just pick the cfmoto.

Regularly commute on a Honda, and yes, "the engines go on and on" - but everything else from shot and worn suspension parts to rusted up ABS rings doesn’t cut the regular commute. (IMHO) They've been living off their reputation and over-priced spare parts market. Will have no issue choosing Chinese in the future.

Glad I'm not the only one who is bullish on this bike. I think the haters are going to be proven wrong when it finally hits the states. It's damn near the perfect bike for the kinds of riding I enjoy best. I hope our Japanese friends follow suit with something similar.

Wow you seem really unimpressed with this bike! I have a base Norden and am looking at upgrading to either an Expedition or DesertX. Just watched this vid and your DesertX vid back to back. You really glowed about the DesertX but my demo left me totally underwhelmed.

I think KTM saw this coming a couple of years ago and got to work on the new 390 ADV R, that is going to be a nice bike I think. Maybe CFMoto got there first, but the KTM certainly had some strong points and that's why KTM as a brand is successful overall. My 890 Adv is in getting new cams, but I'm not going to sell it, I'm just going to ride the nuts off of it, it's that good.

Why would you want to go faster than 60mph on an adventure bike? Surely it’s a job for a touring bikes. When I went on a trip to the south of France on my very old k75 it did fine cruising at 70-75mph on the uk motorways to get me to the nice French weather and lovely country roads. The riding was much more enjoyable and relaxed doing 55mph on the twisty back roads. It was an eye opener to gear up my old adventure Honda fx650 to sit happy at 60mph on a motorway if need be but still have good gearing for the dirt tracks and hard off-road. Modern adventure bikes are tourers with long travel and 21” front wheel. No surprise the Chinese bikes like Kove other will flood the EU market with their open eyed approach to true adventure bikes or what they used to be 20-30yrs ago. Shame Honda can’t sell the XR650L in Europe. Also might be worth mentioning that a clapped out 30yr old bike would always underperform compared to any brand new bike, just saying. Maybe find a good example of a vintage bike for other comparisons.

And let’s face it most people will at some point change the exhaust tyres and upgrade the suspension depending on what they are doing with it… Being KTM through and through, I’ve been very sceptical about the Kove and the CF but the more I do my research the more Intreated I become in actually buying one. Outstanding review well done.

DDo whatever you want, but the truth is, the KTM 690 will perform better off-road than the Africa Twin, even though you can still do the same things with the Africa Twin.

Two things that I feel like these videos are missing: 1. 431 pounds is one pound lighter than a 2009 KLR 650. 2. KTM is done for.
@BrakeMagazine9 күн бұрын
We don’t have the KLR. It’s not lost on us that this bike isn’t light or small. That’s how you make it cheap. 2. Yeees. We started to notice that when we were researching this video a few months back. This video was finished a month before the official news but even then the financials looked bad 😂

My own view is we still haven’t quite reached the sweet spot. The new BMW GS 450 at 175kgs wet is almost there, but then they restrict it to 48hp which penalises us experienced riders. Until one manufacturer decides to build a 175kg wet weight 450 - to 550 with 65hp we’re still just going round in circles. Wake up manufacturers we’re still waiting for a proper, truly, lightweight adventure bike!
@BrakeMagazine8 күн бұрын
BMW are claiming 175kg dry. The other part of this is that the reliability vs power from a small engine, at the price point people want to pay is difficult. Even Dakar bikes, which have the requirements on paper aren’t that reliable. They’re also crazy tall, big bikes and crazy expensive. It could happen, but within the parameters of actually being saleable is a big question.
