Appreciate the informative video!🤙🏼 Just snagged this on Black Monday Cyber Friday deal. I think we’re similar in height/build/weight. I have a Stratus hoody in size M & ordered the Aegis in M as well. How’s the fitting when you wear the Stratus over the Aegis?
@BlackFlagSummitClub27 күн бұрын
The size medium Aegis fit amazingly over layers, would size down if I was primarily using this in urban settings though. If you are familiar with how Arc LEAF garments fit…I would say this is the same cut and fit as their shells

@BlackFlagSummitClubАй бұрын
Yes, that is why, if you follow us on IG you will see that we run the KBs off the shoulder straps of our pack via the load lifter straps. Because of the weight it will have a tendency to be weighed down and make the harness ride up and push against your next as you have pointed out. The harness only works if you don’t have alot of stuff in the KB …the minute you start putting anything with weight like a pistol with a loaded mag and a spare you’re gonna run into this issue. When you run it off your pack with the hangers not only does it alleviate this issue but it also provides a nice counter weight to your main backpack and also streamlines the donning/doffing
@caleb84782 ай бұрын
Hey! i want to ask, is this pack comfortable to wear for a long time?
@BlackFlagSummitClubАй бұрын
I would say this depends on how much weight you’re carrying. If you have 35lbs or more highly recommended using the hip belt, 40lbs over the extended periods is doable any more than that and I think you might start feeling it in your traps.

So, I'm back for a third or fourth time. 😅 You wrote earlier "shoot me up". I've got some questions! We are heading towards Luxemburg tomorrow. So I was just checking and cleaning this water system. I used it last time may to Albania. After my trip I cleaned the hoses, not the filter. - How do you store your MSR filter after your trip? Do you clean it? - I cleaned the hoses after the trip. Just did it again before use with a brush. - I just took the filter after 4 months and saw that the white part of the filter (looks like ropes?) inside the filter behind the transparant plastic looked a bit black. Is this pollution? Needs to be white, right? - I did the reversed cleaning and saw some stuff coming out of the filter.. it looked as if hot water was mixing with cold water. Not dirty but I could see I was blowing something through. No bubbles. - Because I saw the black stuff in the filter and I didn't use it for months, I first cleaned it with 5 sort of aquatabs and let it go through. I'm doing it again now with bleech. - Somehow with the straw in the bottle it was not working so I tend to hang my system upside down and use gravity. However, the tiny air valve of the convertube is letting air in all the time. Is this supposed the be? Also, the O-ring (how you call that in English?) around the convertube lid on my Nalgene bottle seems to not completely close. After so many uses I'm still figuring out stuff and sometimes it almost gives me a headache.. as in "what am I doing wrong?" It seems so hard to simply get the water flowing sometimes..

What would you prefer if you could only own one between the defiant and aegis for long distance backpacking use case?
@BlackFlagSummitClub3 ай бұрын
These two garments are very diffrent- the Defiant, being a hybrid soft Shell offers more abraision resistance and range of motion due to the stretch properties of the fabric. The Aegis is lighter and more packable but is a true hardshell so i would really only use it when the level of activity is low, or if Its really comming down. But i guess to answer your question, if i absolutly had to have only one, i guess i would go with the Aegis becuase i live in the PNW and rain is almost always looming so a reliable hardshell is a must.

@@BlackFlagSummitClub How does the Paladin, Aegis and Defiant compare in terms of similarities and differences?
@BlackFlagSummitClubАй бұрын
@@kanga1255 have you seen the reviews I’ve done on each of these garments? They all have similarities like alot of the what you have come to expect from Patrick’s tried and true designs (ie. the Three Panel Hood, the dual side entry chest pockets, two way zipper etc) but the main differences are in the material….Hardshell vs soft shell and one that gives you the best of both worlds. If you’re trying to decide which one to get you first need to define the activities you plan to do with them mainly ….what is more important extended protection against the elements, abrasion resistance and range of motion….that should tell you if you need a Hardshell or a soft shell garment

@BlackFlagSummitClub4 ай бұрын
I’m 5.7’, and am 170lbs. In my case, I think actually a size medium would fit me perfectly and would get more daily use but as this Hardshell is primarily used in the backcountry I do appreciate the more roomy fit for mobility and layering.
@humbleheath4 ай бұрын
@@BlackFlagSummitClub okay I was asking because I'm 5.10' and 166 pounds. I'm not sure whether a Medium or Large is better for layering. So you were wearing a large?
@BlackFlagSummitClub4 ай бұрын
@@humbleheath no, I’m wearing a medium. I would think that these fit true to size and aren’t “athletic” fit so I would think that you should go with the size you normally get. But if you’re worried- I would measure from your shoulder down to your wrist and from your sternum to your hip bone and then ask PDW what the length is of the garment is at those points.
