just wanted to quickly say thank you for all the toon shader tutorials, they are all so easy to understand and has helped me a lot rendering sets for our 2D animated thesis film, they have made our jobs so much easier and i'm so happy with the results we are getting so far

For those using 2023 or newer, create an aiStandardVolume node AND an aiStandardSurface node in the hypershade. Then plug the output of your aiStandardVolume into the 'Volume Shader' Input of your aiStandardSurfaceSG.

Lee please help me!!! I have such a silly issue. I have Maya 2024, I am using Arnold with my GPU which is a RTX 3090. My drivers are up to date. I have read the Arnold Docs and see that SSS is supported. I know the Emperical Diffuse / Diffuse is not supported so I have tried both randomwalk and V2. I have played with every conceivable option but SSS will simply not work when I use GPU. Any input will be super amazing. Thank you Lee, kind regards, Nicholas.

Loving your toon shader tutorials, keep them up! If you can, please make some of these in 3ds max, I can transfer some of the Maya workflow, but I often stumble along the way, the way UI and material editor work is quite different.

It doesn't exist now. You can create a skydome_light and set the skydome visibility to 0 for everything but the camera.

Hi, if I had the opportunity to improve the use of the Arnold render in Maya: 1) I would add an alpha channel of all transparent objects in the default scene 2) be able to easily specify the path of auto saving passes in the ArnoldRenderView window in any format, similar to 3dmax and similar render engines in it 3) improve the calculation of gpu render. thank you, I have everything!)

Hi, I have a problem that I can't solve. 1. i prepared a black and white texture map (image_alpha.exr); 2. created two aiStandardSurface1, aiStandardSurface2; 3. when I work with aiMixShader1, I want to render the artwork passes with the image_alpha.exr texture included as well; 4. I tried customizing the AOV channel in (aiStandardSurface1, aiStandardSurface2) but the rendered (image_alpha.exr) channel doesn't match the beauty rendering, and at this point I can't get it to work out perfectly.
