A lot of sympathetic useful information (sometimes redundant, about composition for instance. A little editing might help... to keep it simple, apparently a said recipe for success, right? ;o). A lot of useful advice too however avoiding contradictions may also help: speaking of composition and mostly showing (street photo type) images where the subject is dead in the center of the frame. What compositional skill is at play there? It somewhat puzzled me. Use any old unsophisticated camera but I'll stick to my M10? Really? Another one in this video consists in downplaying the usefulness of shallow depth of field and then showing us tons of images where the background is out of focus. [by the way, IBIS can also be useful at times]. White Balance is not exactly another ingredient of exposure. Nothing may have the right color balance and be totally wrong in its exposure (et vice versa). As for "there is no bad picture of a burning monk" and the "one turd / two turds" advice... really? ;o) Anyway, entertaining, but long if not lengthy.

@PatrickColpron
@PatrickColpron Ай бұрын
@@rolleicanon Thank you, greatly appreciated. I had an M9 and used it pretty much like I use my M10 in daytime. The one thing we have now which would have helped back in 2011 and 2012 when I had an M9 is the post-processing software we have now and I mean I would have used a combination of the noise reducing slider in Adobe Bridge with DXO's Topaz Denoise to find the right mix in reducing the noise. This said, I had no issue using iso 400 during the day and the noise ... well I'd live with it not to miss I shot I absolutely wanted to make. This said, this high iso advice is not for M9 users, but there are ways to make up for some of it with modern post-processing software and plug-ins. Hope this helps (I don't think I shot often past iso 800 with my M9 and gave up on the M9 because I couldn't work the RAW files the same way I could Nikon's D3 RAW files... but it was a great daytime camera and occasional nighttime shooter. I used it a lot at night in Toronto and NYC just with a much lower shutter speed.) The M9 is a different animal than the M10, the M10 has much more modern files which are more malleable and it handles high ISO like a champ, better than a Canon R5 that's for sure !

I now also have a well used SL, which is much better, and OK for close-ups because of the EVF and the close focusing button, but also larger and heavier. I am thinking of getting rid of my film Ms (3, 2 and 6, acquired before prices shot up) and my two old Barnack screw cameras and getting an M-10R. @@rolleicanon My pleasure, your M9 is a keeper, an M10-R or even just an M10-P would be a great addition. I prefer the rendering of the M10 and M10-P over the M10-R, richer more vivid colors and the reds are just like the red rendering of the M9, very accurate color rendering. Of the 3 cameras you mentioned selling - I'd keep the M2, my favorite film M camera of all times. An M10 or an M10-P would be even more affordable than an M10-R, the only reason I use my M10-R more than my M10-D these days (M10 and M10-P included) is that it is the black paint M10-R and just looks stunning, makes making photos with it more enjoyable. Amen to that. As I mentioned in your last video, I'm stepping into the digital Leica just now, with about a decade shooting M6 (in San Francisco), what made you gel with M10? I think M10 is all I need but right now my emotions telling me to get the M11 as why not just get the newest because of everything it offers over the M10 plus I highly doubt I'm going to buy another digital Leica for a decade. The price is scary, but my love for photography since 08 I think can justify it.. by selling lots of unused equipments along the way of course.

@@nuj427 Thank you, the M10-P is all I ever needed in a camera, it is simple, no gimmicks. This said, if you are new to Leica digital cameras, the M11 is the way to go if you are going to do large prints. The M10-P offers a significant price advantage over the M11, I prefer the M10 over the M11, with an M11 you'll be good for 10 to 12 years for sure without feeling the need for something newer.

@@PatrickColpron thank you for your input. For what I'll use it for I think 18mp is enough for daily use, 36mp for streets, and 60mp would only be useful for real work that's the way I see it. USB-C makes it convenient. Someone had the M10-D for sale in Paris which I thought why not? I think my skills would fit that niche, but the price, yeah right 😔🤦🏻

Your reviews are amazing. Jam-packed with useful info and opinion with a slant that matches mine and focuses on things that matter a lot but other reviews never talk about. Keep it up!

Thank you greatly appreciated. I was left dissatisfied with the state of camera and lens review, instead of complaining I decided to be the change I wanted to see. The thing is, I use what I review a lot before reviewing it and want to show tons of images I made with it, that's pretty much it and or, plus I want to poke fun at the silly things reviewers repeat from one another which makes no sense or is not researched at all.
