The Super league was basically trying to replace the champions league with an NFL, NBA style tournament with a league and playoff. But what really annoyed the fans was that certain clubs felt like they had a right to be a part of it, NO club in football has more rights than another except based on on the pitch performance. Americans would have loved the idea because to them on paper it seems like a good idea, but when you remember that football in europe doesn't revolve around 15-20 clubs in 3-5 countries.
