The Elden Beast similarly lives within Marika like a parasite. When we dispatch Metyr, Jolan attacks us, saying we've "wounded" Ymir. When you look into the Fingerprint Nostrum, it says those who partake feel "something wriggle within."

Also keep in mind neutron stars is a star that died in a supernova and rised up again in a smaller more denser way, probably has some meaning to what Metyr does and what happens to her at the end, probably didn't die, just got smaller or reborn in some way.

There needs to be more attention on the idea of the Greater Will being a parasitic force - both the incarnations of it so far, Metyr and the Elden Beast's arenas depict feeder tendrils reaching down to earth. The emphasis on power 'returning' to (or rather, being assimilated by) the Greater Will through tendrils reaching into the earth, those tendrils being coopted by the Deathblight, all of this points to the Greater Will simply being another alien force seeking dominance over the system to monopolise the flow of souls, particularly powerful ones.

Perhaps Metyr is cut off from the greater will due to being sequestered to the land of shadow? Its seems odd that Ranni's puppet is in very rough shap when we find her having taken down one of the 2 fingers, and only ones she has the fingerslaying Blade, but we just go in and Beat Metyr without anything specialize like that. Just a thought.

Interesting that that orb is labeled as "sun" in the data considering that in the game there are no suns that can be seen, considering that both the erdtree, and scadutree take that role, it also oddly looks like an eye, maybe implying that both trees hide the fact that there is something that is watching us

Man, what the fuck. Right as the video got to the part about the birth of the fingers tearing out of the flesh, some kids started screaming far away enough to be undiscernible and feel like it was and wasn't coming from the video and it made the whole thing creepy as all absolute hell. I got shivers and everything. Had to pause to write this and calm myself down.

This is my tinfoil hat mode but I think there’s implications that before being completely taken by the Greater Will that the Elden Beast was ALSO a finger mother, based on the dialogue Ymir mentions about the two fingers being misguided by a motherly figure, and where metyr is more twisted and raw (closely relating to the crucible) the beasts limbs were straightened out I have no other basis I just think it’s possible

I love the blend of fantasy with cosmic horror. The From Soft team might not be the first to pull it off, but they're certainly masters of that mix with Bloodborne and now Elden Ring.

Meh, Metyr was by far the most underwhelming aspect of SotE's already bad lore. She's an obvious, sloppy retcon - doesn't really change how the Two Fingers work (they were already implied to not actually communicate with the Greater Will and just doing their own thing) while creating glaring plot holes (why is there a struggle for the Outer Gods to rule the Lands Between when there's no actual other god ruling it so far?), tries to ascribe the Two Fingers and the Finger Creepers to her when their visual design is obviously completely different, and making the existence of the Three Fingers completely lack sense.

It resembles Lilith from Neon Genesis. How it is supposed to be a mother to all fingers, it's strange face and it's body still containing strange growths that resemble her children.

I love the lore of Elden Ring, it's so interesting, that we slowly realize that the golden order and absolute notions of right and wrong and godhood dictated by God itself have actually not always been there and it's only temporary, and God is actually likely dead, and it's just aliens making kerfuffle on a fantasy land.

Metyr reproduces via asexual budding, making her children identical to her at their core. I assume if she’s lost contact with the Greater Will, it’s already set in stone from their “birth” that all her children would be just as estranged as she is. I think Ymir was right

he fact that the orb at her tail is referred to as a star may actually have big lore implications itself, as the object is fairly unambiguously a black hole. you can even see at 2:41 that the object has jets very similar to many real black holes. the fact that this "sun" is actually more likely a black hole also implies that the greater will (what that sun is meant to represent or directly depict depending on how literal this is meant to be) didn't leave the lands between but in fact merely perished under the forces of entropy and the 2 fingers are indeed making things up as they go and are ether hoping that the Greater will isn't gone or are just pretending for their own ends. i remember seeing people who suggested that the 3 fingers, after realizing that the greater will had left, went mad because of it but i think that the 3 fingers actually realized that the greater will "died" and lost their mind as a result. that would explain why the center of the flame of frenzy is also a black hole adjacent void and casts parallels between black holes ability to destroy anything that falls into them and the frenzied flames ability to burn everything including spirits.

Ok this is very quickly turning from religious mythological epic into alien invasion scifi. They're basically saying "there's no god, and you've all been worshipping some aliens that fingered you your entire lives".

Elden Ring is such a fascinating criticism of organized religion; both their propensity towards schisms and in-fighting as well as the ever present threat that those at the top may begin twisting the so-called words of the divine to suit their own agenda.
