In the big picture of home audio $2250 today is a nothing burger. Using an inflation calculator from 1980, $625 for a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 10B's stand mount speakers (which sound like crap compared to the S400 MKii), that would now cost $2380, makes these quite reasonable. Thanks for watching!

The aesthetics for some reason give me a Hafler DH200/220 vibe, which gives me fond memories of building several hundred kits of those two models and the behemoth DH500. I’d say that “seems” like a lifetime ago, but I’d be wrong - it absolutely was. Thomas, if I was in the market for a stereo amp today, the ‘75 would be at the top of my list - maybe you’re interested in a trade-in? 🤭

Just got mine and I find my LGV60 sounds much better. And my Rega Apollo CD player smokes them both. The Wiim is kind of thin and has veiled reserved quality about it, it's not subtle when A/Bing them side by side. Not impressed myself. It doesn't sound bad and it's really versatile which is cool, overall to me it sounds like something you'd get at Best Buy rather than a true piece of hifi gear. Not knocking it, it is what it is, $300 and sounds like it.

Thanks for clearing up my uncertainty as to whether the SnubWay and Main Stream are best used together. That was not obvious from a viewing of the Veri-Fi website. That is a $530. solution and while it is far less expensive than many other 'solutions' for many it is a significant expenditure for what MAY be a minor improvement. A possible alternative is the use of a battery powered Power Station, the Bluetti line is among those highly regarded. This article first brought this solution to my attention; "World Premiere Review! Stromtank S2500 Battery Power Supply" by Tom Lyle @ the Enjoy the Music website. Since that article was written, the price of similar battery power has been greatly reduced and is easily comparable in price to the solution Veri-Fi offers. The same reviewer later achieved similar results using a much more affordable Goal Zero Power Station. Here's an even more affordable example; BLUETTI Portable Power Station AC180, 1152Wh LiFePO4 Battery Backup w/ 4 1800W (2700W peak) AC Outlets - $479.00 Note that the LiFePO4 batteries are safe, unlike standard lithium batteries. Charge up the Power Station with wall AC, then when wishing to listen to your system, unplug the Power Station from the wall, entirely free from the problematic house AC supply. Hint. hint; I'd love to see a comparison between the Veri-Fi solutions and using a Portable Power Station like the Bluetti.

Thank you for that well-informed, well-thought out review. I am on the 2 yard line and am getting ready to purchase these speakers. Currently I have the KEF Q350's. They sound good but they leave me wanting more. How do you think these would pair with a PS Audio Stellar Strata integrated amp? It's class D but it puts out about 120 watts into 4 ohms. Just use a good UPS, they include power conditioning to all sockets and have the added benefit of protecting against brown and black outs to your most critical gear. Most of them include a few sockets that have battery backup, power conditioning, and surge protection, and also a few sockets that only have the power conditioning and surge protection.
@audiorick841
@audiorick841 23 күн бұрын
My understanding is that a UPS uses PWM switching in order to regulate the voltage coming out of its battery into the DC/AC converter. That in itself is a switching device introducing noise. Although it runs on the battery for backup, it is no no match for a good LPS. I have three UPS and I plugged in some of the audio devices directly into it and can confirm that it does not do any good in my system.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence
@stereofanoregon6481
@stereofanoregon6481 Ай бұрын
I made no extraordinary claim, a 2db difference in noise via measuring hiss coming from a speaker. In the first 90 seconds of the review, I made the following specific statement: "I want to be clear, for almost everyone the improvement to your output will be small, but if you have done the Harman training, or have deep awareness for certain songs you will catch incremental improvements. So, when I discuss my observations keep this point in mind." In addition, I described in detail my observation of video image improve. Also, the following statement at the very end: "No, they shouldn’t be your first purchase when building an audio or home theater system. But, as a potential missing link when everything is set up and you’re looking for the last ingredient in reaching your goal, no doubt." Thanks for watching!

Truly exceptional video! My integrated amplifier has a slight humming noise due to the power supply. Would the snubway and mainstream power conditioners help with that?
@stereofanoregon6481
@stereofanoregon6481 Ай бұрын
Several potential reasons: The humming is most likely a grounding issue. Is it a two-way or three-way plug? Are the other units in the audio chain using the same plug configuration? Are florescent bulbs being use in the room? Always start with the simplest solution, then work your way to more complicated. If possible, start with another integrated amp, and keep lights and other items off on that circuit. If no hum, then start turning on items. I had a hum coming from an amp, turns out, it was a bad florescent bulb, replaced it with an LED, problem solved.
