I'm after a spinning wheel suitable for flax, any suggestions? Looking at a period looking piece rather than modern.

I spin flax on my Kromski Minstrel. It has an optional attached distaff that I love! It’s a castle style and has that old world “period” look Kromski is known for.

Very late comment sorry. But something i will try next time, due to a dye lot that wasn't great for me though blending and correcting made some interesting knits cowls etc. So the colors didn't take the way they should have and I think longer soaking, no vinegar until maybe 30 min of colors striking , as some take time, such as blues, giving everything time and then the vinegar, will be trying it soon. Not quite ready yet. Always have something in my mind and its hard to achieve. And in some sessions, more dye needed perhaps. And thank you sharing because it gives me some courage. Have that book. Want to try the cling wrap method and then use a slow cooker instead of microwave.

If you don't want to hold your embroidery, I believe you can baste the cut fabric onto a larger piece of fabric which is then put in a hoop or stretcher bars. The Sarah Homfray Embroidery channel probably has a demonstration.

I love the different ways you are showing to use embroidery. You can use crayons and waxpaper to color in.

ive had my spinning wheel for 4 days, and ive barely managed to get even a few inches of "yarn" on the bobbin...is there any hope for me? im not giving up at all, but i dont understand why im ok until its time to do two different things at the same time, it seems so confusing :(

A few tips for your base block of wood . First, remove the bark . As the wood loses moisture, it will shrink, and the bark will loosen and so will to initial coil . Next , sand it and seal it with either an oil and wax polish or sanding sealer like Zinser Seal Coat . It will give you a nice smooth , golden finish that you can add either a painted detail , or before you apply finish , you can do either pen style pyrography , or laser , then apply finish

Can you use dye remover to fade a black shirt?
@144SouldierАй бұрын
Another question? If you use dye remover can you swirl for less than 20 mins to get fade look?
@TextileIndieАй бұрын
Yes, according to the Rit Dye website you can. I do have some hesitations though, some black dye could turn into a rusty color. If you've ever dripped bleach on a dark fabric you'll know the color I mean. And it could damage the fabric - or at least weaken it. My best tip is to try it on a bit of the shirt that won't show. Maybe take a q-tip and dab some on an inside seam???
@TextileIndieАй бұрын
That is hard to answer - it depends on the original dye, the fabric, etc. This project will definitely fall in the dye experiment category. Please come back and let me know how it works.

Hello there 🤗,,, thank you for everything Brittany 😊 I'm still on the pine needle Baskets. Have a wonderful day 🌹 I'm going to attempt to make a larger size of Baskets...... Gathering needles of pine,,,,, so I can sit inside when the snow ❄️ falls. Pass on another idea with the pine needles..... If you are growing flowers or vegetables, or even Grass.... Spread the pine needles out just like you would straw on grass seed and around flowers seeds and veggies seeds.... And just water 💦 normally and you will see what a Miracle these pine needles are.... Happy fall Brittany.... Maybe, perhaps you could wear a costume for Fall, and we could do the same and post. I will be a patriot, like Thomas Jefferson.... 🥺🥺🤔🌹🌼💙🙏✌️🌩️🌩️🌩️

Great video! Do you have or can you do a video on mending holes in clothes? I want to make a little kit so I can embroider a little heart, star, flower, etc over small holes in my clothes.
