I love this! I'm going to drop everything and finish my unfinished basket with a scalloped edge :)

I just started basket making. And I’m finding myself with crazy piles of reed. I was wondering if you could do a video on store and organizing your reeds and other materials. I love your videos so much they are so easy to follow and making it so easy to learn.

That is a good idea! I'll add it to my video list. My short answer is, I use big Rubbermaid tubs to keep loose reed and scraps. I also try my best to keep the coils together and use a lot of ties to hold them in place. Thank you for the kind words.

Would love to see you show inserting or incorporating different types of handles. Wooden , leather etc.

Thank you so much! About how long did you soak the flat reed?

I soak reed for about 1 minute. But...I live in a damp climate so my reed doesn't dry to a crisp. It depends on your environment, how old the reed is, and where it's stored. The trick is to watch for the fibers cracking or fraying - if the reed doesn't feel pliable you can soak it longer.
