Well I'm glad someone made a video of the new track. It looks like Tuck deserves a big congratulations for doing such a good job building track that's looking like 30 mph track all day long. Really good job. the only thing I'd do is load up with stone along the edges to keep lateral movement under control

It appears that much of the rebuilt track is using standard guage ties and heavy rail. Maybe it's just the camera angles. Anyone know the specs they are rebuilding to? Tie centers seem pretty close too for a narrow guage passenger operation.
@RobertBenkovitz3 ай бұрын
Ties are standard gauge - rail is the same rail that existed when the railroad shut down in 1956 - mostly from the 19-teens, 95 lbs I believe. Not sure the exact spacing of the ties (we had a fixed gauge to keep them consistent) but probably on the order of 18-20 inches.

This is one of my favorite places to visit. I try to go every year to patronize EBT railroad. It’s a true gem! It’s great to see the yearly progress that they are making fixing everything up. And to think that EBT railroad was almost sold for scrap iron back in the early 2000’s.
@SilverBulletOBW3 ай бұрын
“Ayo! Can I ride dis wit my EBT card??” That’s some impressive brush clearing, not one tree branch overhanging the track anywhere. Way to do the job right! Also, maybe once they complete a tunnel people will stop getting yelled at for assuming it’s abandoned.

@RobertBenkovitz3 ай бұрын
It's about 1.1 miles as the crow flies from current end-of-track to the Pogue station. Of course the Pogue trestle over Aughwick creek is in between that - needs some rehab before track can be laid across it.

@@RobertBenkovitz Do you think EBT crew get the track done until the 994 (Pogue road) this year??
@RobertBenkovitz3 ай бұрын
@@daviddion719 It's about 2500 feet to get to the 994 crossing - they should easily make that by the end of the year. I believe the end-of-year goal is to get to the Pogue trestle, which is another 1700 feet further, and includes the 994 crossing plus two crossings over the High School access roads.

About 3/4 of a mile from current end-of-track (as of 2024-09-19). However that's the current extent of laid rail - a few thousand feet or so east/north of there still needs to be ballasted and tamped.
