As a hard core early Supertramp fan, have to say I think Logical Song is a bit of a yawn .... there are a lot of songs on the three albums before that ... Crime of the Century, Crisis? What Crisis? and Even in the Quietest Moments .... that were far better.

Just a reflection of the current trends in music really. Hip hop is arguably as big as it's ever been so it being at 21% doesn't surprise me. Music is ultimately very subjective and personal so these lists always tend to ruffle a few feathers

Thanks for the latest.... Aaaaaaaaagh! Writing while I'm watching and Simply Red have just raised their ugly face! omg please... Is there some end of film credits that was playing over, that drew you in? I loved The Jam and All Mod Cons... even won a signed gold disc of Strange Town in a Smash Hits competition guessing Tube Station lyrics correctly, of course all before Paul Weller gave up decent song writing (Wasteland one of my all time favourite songs from 'Setting Sons'. Sylvian in there again! but... You've got a decent music set up, have you not heard 'Gone To Earth'? Kate Bush yes! Army Dreamers yes! Cloudbusting Yes! Elton John NO! his voice is responsible for Robbie Williams and all the terrible male vocalists that followed. I did like Boston though when it came out (despite my comment on your 1st 25).

Enjoyed the countdown again... I love looking at people's favourites as I 'm always hopeful it's exactly the same as mine (obviously I know it never will be). 'Walk On By' I have to agree is genius, but, Elastica??? They were 'extreme' rip-off merchants blatantly stealing Wire riffs, (hoping I'm sure no one had heard of them). If anyone had heard Wire before Elastica, they instantly recognised a counterfeit when they heard it (they settled those ones out of court), Where's Robert Wyatt for goodness sake?

Love some of these choices. Elbow (seen them twice live) - "Build a Rocket Boys" shades it narrowly for me. Bowie (seen him twice live) - Scary Monsters would be my choice. Tears for Fears - I think they never surpassed their brilliant debut album "The Hurting". Talk Talk spot on with "The Colour of Spring" which was their sweet spot imo. Nice to see Harry Styles in there, Damien Rice and Television. I would have loved to have seen New Order included with "Power Corruption & Lies" , The The "Soul Mining", Cocteau Twins " Blue Bell Knoll", Depeche Mode "Violator" but still love your Top 40.

This is the taste of today.... the music world has been turned on its head... What once was pretty much mainstream has almost gone completely underground - What was considered to be classed as underground (back in the day) is now the most played and listened to. We are just more appreciative of people writing, playing and singing their own songs. Today is almost all talentless (here today - gone tomorrow) artists with throwaway music. Sure, there's some form of skill in creating todays sounds, but it's a million miles away from what we were enjoying.... 2024 is a time for celebration. Many of our favs are bringing out 50th anniversary recordings, and this year, people are creating new wonderful music Mark Knopfler has a new album Steve Hackett - The Circus and the Night Whale Black Country Communion - V Deep Purple - = 1 Hawkwind, have a new album David Gilmour - Luck and Strange Jon Anderson & the Band Geeks - True..... Stuff Apple's top 100....

Interesting selection again. Love that Sebastian is in there (what's wrong with the UK record buyers, failed to chart three times), Death Trip is another favourite from the Rebels, not unlike Sebastian. UB40 is also a great choice. I bought that one straight away. Actually, one of the Campbell brothers lives (or lived, not sure now) half a mile away from me in Jeff Lynne's old pad, Walsh Hall. Look forward to seeing the rest of your choices. What do you think of Michael Buble's version of Me and Mrs Jones? If you've heard it. Keep up the good work. I enjoyed watching the list unfold... Thinking whaaaat!!! (Black Sabbath) and then nodding in agreement... (The Clash) then wondering why 'this' track and not 'that' one! Having grown up mostly in a small market-town in the 70's I tired very quickly of middle class grammar school sixth formers with Black Sabbath or AC/DC records under their arms parading them through town, not a meaningful lyric to be had from the whole lot of em! Heavy metal nonsense. Love 'A Forest' 'Portishead' 'Satie' 'Sakamoto' 'Scoundrel Days' is flipping good (also my guilty pleasure) 'Ben Watt' 'Japan & Sylvian' ... Please tell me 'Gone To Earth' is in your top 10 albums ever? Looking forward to 75 - 51

Interesting choices. I did my (subjective) top 10 a few years ago and revised it last about two years ago. Don't think I'm brave enough, or reckless enough, to try a hundred. My only criterion was to choose no more than one song from any artist. My top ten songs: 1. Davis Bowie - Space Oddity 2. Doobie Brothers - It Keeps You Running 3. The Beatles - If I fell 4. Beach Boys - God Only Knows 5. Glen Campbell - By the Time I Get to Phoenix 6. The La's - There She Goes 7. Juliana Hatfield - My Sister 8. Prefab Sprout - Goodbye Lucille #1 9. Richard Hawley - Open Up Your Door 10. Keane - Try Again
