Remember that Palpatine used the Trade Federation to setup a blockade on HIS HOMEWORLD of Naboo - to further his ambition of becoming Chancellor. He may not have a direct hand in the corruption on Mandalore, but he's probably involved in directing Underworld players in the direction of the Prime Minister Almec. "Plausible deniability?"

I loved the "Domino Squad" story arc going back to their training on Kaminio... and leading into the Battle of Kamino; which was told (sorta) differently in the Legends "Clone Wars" comic book (Vol. 1) by Dark Horse Comics. As always Dave takes something popular from the defunct "canon" and added more depth to it with the addition/heroism of Clone 99.

You're right! The Domino Squad is a great example of how the clone troopers had distinct personalities, even if they were genetically identical.

One of my favorite Hondo moments was when he implored Boba to tell the Jedi where the hostages are being kept because, "It is the honorable thing to do. It's what your father would have wanted." Boba grew up without his father for the most part, and was raised by Jango's "co-workers." I always took Jango to be a more honorable man than most of the bounty hunters we've seen in the Saga. I feel like Cad Bane was THE OPPOSITE of what Jango Fett stood for - but Boba didn't grow up with Jango's influence; as much as he did folks like Aurra Sing, Boosk and others.
@TheSWSShow23 күн бұрын
Bane was/is, without question, the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. Boba, however, was by far the better man. He had code and he kept to it. We see this more in Legends and we will hopefully see it more in Canon.
@gkrickhan28 күн бұрын
It was interesting to see a young Boba Fett trying to blend in among clones; basically seeing multiple copies of himself AND his father everywhere he went on the Jedi cruiser. I've known Daniel Logan (from the con circuit) ever since he was a little kid and it was great to hear his voice work playing different versions of the clone cadets. One thing in particular about young Boba I liked was for trying to be undercover, his resentment of the adult clones having his father's face really slipped through.
@TheSWSShow23 күн бұрын
It was heartbreaking watching him wrestle with this forced duality. He clearly had a love for his brothers and a desire to be part of something and have friends. As any kid would. But then he's driven by grief and vengeance, not to mention being pushed forward by unscrupulous scoundrels.

Zillo Beast was a GREAT 2-episode arc of the show. What an homage to the classic "Godzilla" monster movies; including the ethical dilemma about humanity's response to the monster.

It's fair to say parents have a right to have some control over what "adult" themes their children are exposed to... but it's another to suggest parents have the right to control whether other people's right to EXIST publicly is another thing. The "Fandom Menace" doesn't have a problem flashing Slave Leia imagery everywhere - even children's LEGO toys... but they'll "cluth their pearls" over the idea of a trans Clonetrooper being accepted by her brothers.
@TheSWSShow23 күн бұрын
The Fandom Menace are in it only for the money and "popularity" that comes from "shock jock" style content. Sister debuted in 2022 but the Fandom Menace didn't get bent out of shape about it until 2024. Where were they in '22? Clearly they weren't at home, curled up with "Queens Hope" and a cup of cocoa. As much as they cut others down for not being "real fans" it's funny they'd miss something as important as a transgender clone trooper. But we really shouldn't be so surprised. Can't imagine they do much reading.
@gkrickhan29 күн бұрын
I wouldn't consider "Brotherhood" to be a "young reader" novel. It's one of THE BEST Star Wars novels I've ever read (including EU/Legends) in the way it explored the Anakin and Obi-Wan relationship as BROTHERS; instead of some kind of "father/son" mentorship role. Qui-Gon was their shared "father" figure and part of the tragedy of Anakin's fall to the dark side is how Obi-Wan (his "older brother") was pressured into promising to raise his "younger brother"... when he may not have been truly ready for that task.
@TheSWSShow23 күн бұрын
There are so many great Star Wars books out there that delve into these kinds of relationships. Adult and young readers alike. One of my favorites is "Rising Force". Sadly it's Legends now but it's still worth reading. ~Tommy

Mandalorian "culture" has lead to multiple civil wars that laid waste to their entire world. The pacifist movement was an over-reaction to the "culture" of bickering Clans of warriors constantly fighting among themselves.
@TheSWSShow23 күн бұрын
Exactly. They tried TOO hard to move away from their violent and bloody past. Again, like the Jedi and Sith, their views are extreme and end up causing more harm than good. One thing Star Wars has always been good at is providing us with cautionary tales.

Obi-Wan is the ULTIMATE example of what an honorable Jedi should be. Speaking from personal experience, when Obi-Wan tells Anakin the backstory about himself and Satine - there is a severe amount of "the path not taken" regret in his voice. Obi-Wan believes in the Jedi Order and the ideals they raised him to believe in, and while the "temptation" in his youth may still exist - I doubt there was ever ANY physical intimacy between them I do love the fact that Anakin teased THE FUCK out of Obi-Wan for "go save your girlfriend"... while he's secretly married at the time.
@TheSWSShow23 күн бұрын
Kenobi doesn't get enough credit for his depth. The man has been through it. He has sacrificed everything for what he thinks is right. It's both beautiful and heartbreaking.

"Mandalorian Plot" arc was interesting (as you said) because George/Dave wanted to establish what "Mandalorian" culture really is; outside from what fan lore has built up this mythos about an entire culture centered around the image of Boba and Jango Fett. Remember the Star Trek TOS episode where an entire planet mimicked the "Chicago gangster" culture, based on a book left behind by an Earth ship... THAT is what most fans believed "Mandalorian" culture was! In this case, that book could be one of <Grievous cough> suck it Karen Traviss novels. ;)

"Lightsaber Lost" may be "filler"... but sometimes "filler" episodes are GREAT life-lessons, told without having to be multi-episode arcs. 99% of the GREATEST "Star Trek" TOS episodes were one-off morality tales and I think for Ahsoka (the eyes of the viewers) was a great teachable moment about how for a young Jedi... "this weapon IS your life."

"The Deserter" is a GREAT episode because it reinforced the Filoni era view that the clones HAVE individual personalities... the way the (real) Jedi see them. #SuckItKarenTraviss I think THIS was the episode where Rex started to think more about life for himself and his "brother" after the war is over.

I went back and checked, ALL the Younglings (visible) in room with Anakin during Order 66 were humans.
@TheSWSShowАй бұрын
It’s possible younglings of other species were off camera. If he was in the Bear Clan class there were definitely other species. But at the moment there’s no connection between Sors Bandeam and Bear Clan. Of course there’s about a 3 year gap between AotC when we first see Bear Clan and RotS when poor little Sors joins the Force. But when we see Bear Clan they’re all about 4 years old. Sors looks like he could be 7. So it’s possible that it could be Bear Clan which would mean there were definitely other species in there. But it’s all just speculation at this point. 🤷🏻♂️

And the scene where Luke Skywalker shows up and takes out the Dark Troopers from The Mandolorian was epic. I can still read all the Star Wars novels and play the games that I own to this day that came out before Disney got control. Thran trilogy, Darth Bane trilogy, the Tales novels, Revan, KOTOR, The Jedi games and more. I have no reason to spend my money on badly written stories, shows and movies and give it to a company that has become toxic and doesn’t respect the fans or the original cannon that was set down years ago and was always popular. I cancelled Disney+ after they wrongly fired Gina.

"Trespass" was a GREAT morality tale of an episode. The Jedi have been used by the Senate to do their dirty work around the galaxy, and that's what Palpatine used to turn the public opinion against the Jedi. The part when Obi-Wan defied his (political) "superior" in defense of the Talz' right to exist on their own planet -even if the humanoid species believe they "own" this world is a great statement about what the Jedi SHOULD be about.
@TheSWSShowАй бұрын
Exactly! The Jedi should never have been under the thumb of the Senate to begin with. But that's a tale for another time.

The Jedi's fear of "attachment" is part of the weakness that Palpatine used to take them down. It's true that Ahsoka can do more to help Anakin by leaving him to go get help... but it's healthy to acknowledge her loyalty and wanting to stay by his side.

There is a key foreshadowing in the Phantom Menace. When anakin is passing the tirals and Yoda says 'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you'. For me that sums up anakin's path to the dark side
