Thanks for this video. Only my horn didn't work. I took the airbag off unhooked the 3 wires 2 airbags and 1 red. I suspect the red is the horn. And the three tabs on the back of the air background to the plate on the string wheel, and that makes your horn honk. I cleaned all the contacts and checked the red wire. I didn't find anything obvious.So I put it back together and now the horn works. So I'm guessing just dirty contacts.

I have been installing engines in a boat and have been having a hard time getting the generator to work. You helped me out here. I have watched many vids on hooking up generators, and your's helped me the most. I think i got it now. You are good, or at least you finally supplied what i was missing with the other vids. thanks. you are doing good.

These kind of generators don't loose magnetism, they have a built in permanent magnet. The capacitor is more likely the issue on a Brush less generator.

I find a angle grinder better for this, just run the disc across the ground quickliy, it should burst into life quite quickly & saves you from injuries when that drill starts ! If that dont work use a jumper lead from a car battery to energise the capacitor when the genny is running. Should only need a few seconds. If that dont work the capacitor is knackered, replace. Note when you have replaced the capacitor you will need to do the above tricks to put some charge in it.

The 820 and 920 were made in Germany, 1967 to 1973. I have a 1968 John Deere 350 bulldozer that was made in Germany, it has a Bosch injection pump, took me 2 years to get enough parts to rebuild it, good luck.

Flashing count on the residual magnetism in each drill. All like drills are not created equal. Good brands drill with a least residual is a worst choice to flash. Cheaper drill have a better chance. Before flashing with any universal drill, try to twist the drill connected to a multimeter set to dc voltage measurement. The dc value should be significantly larger than the residual ac value of a sleepy generator.

Jerus, I own a 1986 k10 chevy truck with two batteries in series and two alternators, but it does not have a tachometer on the dashboard. The alternators are similar to the one shown on this video. I would like to add a tachometer and get the signal from the alternator. Could you, please, tell me from which point should I get the signal? My alternators are k64, model 12SI, rating at 78 Amps. Thank you.
@JerusBarnett
@JerusBarnett 3 жыл бұрын
The tachometer signal is from the distributor cap and not the alternators. On a gm there is usually a tach wire plug on the side of the alternator rotor cap.
