I whould guess teh first trove7set or two is good to get dice/counters a storage box etc but no point in having a dozen lor counters and 100 dice.

at disney world its the same was just down there 2 weeks ago and all they had were inkland boosters at the pin shop and azurite sea troves and starter decks at the worlds of disney shop

I feel like the major problem with Lorcana is that it's very limited in its potential. Pokemon, Yugioh, and MtG have the freedom to not be bound to characters, where each one is capable of basically producing new cards every few months with new characters. Yes, they each have their staples that they'll return to, but that's not all these tcg's have. Lorcana has a major problem where they can only use Disney characters (yes, they can start bringing in star wars and marvel to have more options, but even that's not gonna be good enough to sustain this game). At the end, we won't know the longevity of this game until 4.5 years from now which is the make it or break it period of damn near every tcg.

1. There are so many Disney characters it's insane 2. You brought up Pokémon which is literally an argument I made in the video. There's been 200+ Pikachu cards in the history of the game, and it's fine, Pokémon still sells incredibly well. 3. The existence of its own lore and Floodborn characters breaks any limits they might have had, plus every card has subtitles, which also breaks any arbitrary limits they may have had.

Can't say that's the case in my area, the game is frequently sold put of product at all our big box stores. Game stores usually have stuff but they tend to run out of certain boxes by the time a new set comes out.

It is a lot easier now, all the scalpers left after the first set or two thankfully. I do think there's a big problem with allocation at the moment though, but that has to do with distributors and not Ravensburger. I see people in the comments saying their stores can't get rid of the cards, meanwhile in my area which has tons of card game players, big box stores can't seem to keep the shelves stocked and games strore managers often tell me they get about half of the product that they actually order (so not enough). Seems like the game isn't selling bad, it's selling well, but that they're sending large quantities of product to areas that probably need a lot less.

So I'm a Pokémon player myself, but I help organise my local league and we work closely with the Lorcana group. Here there's definitely a bit of a dropoff in the players already but that's to be expected after a first boom, always a 50/50 if it wants to stick. The people still playing seem very passionate about it however and as long as Ravensburger doesn't do something stupid I definitely expect they're here to stay

This is exactly what I wanted to see. I was interested in some Tiana sleeves but every UltraPro sleeve that has MTG characters on them are all sticky. Like why? lol It's usually because the backs of the sleeves are smooth and not the same textured back that Dragonshields have. I just gave up getting those and now I use my old Ultrapro sleeves like that for protection in binders. Sad to see it's the same story with the Disney Lorcana sleeves. I will stay away from them thanks to your video. Sticky Sleeves. *shakes fist* You could always get the clear outer sleeves but really, these should come textured in the first place so we aren't buying another company's product to supplement this one.

I'm curious to see what happens when we get on year 3. Will they create an eternal and a rotating format? Right now it's still very beginner friendly, I'm concerned that either it won't be on the near future, or it will get boring of cards divvy do "more", but that potential problem is years in the future

I think we will get some kind of rotation at some point. What it looks like and when it happens remains to be seen. But I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen at some point.

As someone who helps run a comic book store, not to be negative but I don’t think it is going to last outside of niche communities in larger cities. I’ve only ever sold two Lorcana packs and one deck, which is nothing in comparison of even the smallest of the three Yugioh, that pales in comparison of Pokémon/Magic. There just isn’t the fan base that routinely comes back like with Magic/Yugioh (where they want to remain competitive for decks) or fans wanting to just collect (Pokémon), at least in rural/medium sized towns.

I think the issue is also supply. Many tend to buy stores of all products to resell at ridiculous prices and leave the rest of us trying to hunt down product. It's not just happening with Lorcana but everything. I see people who don't even play buying because they want to make money off it.

@ Possibly, we have Yugioh tournaments kick off routinely, in fact the time between Thanksgiving/Christmas has been the driest season in quite some time. Some have expressed some interest in One Piece but no where near enough for us to buy into it, especially when it’s at most two/three people. Idk why the owner bought into Lorcana since it’s also only two/three people who have bought product and nobody has asked me about how the game is run, but at the end of the day I don’t approve orders so idk.

I don’t know if you can play lorcana at your store as well? This because of what i see in my town is that the store where you can play lorcana, sells out all of there pre-order sets, and the stores where you can only buy instead of buying and playing won’t sell that much.

@@cf135 Our local store gets more attendance for Lorcana than for ANY non-commander Magic event. And I say this as someone whom played Magic for 20 years and basically entirely moved to Lorcana.

I’ve been a MTG player since 1993. Gave it up about 7 years ago. Heard about Lorcana and picked it up about 5 months ago. Love the game. I tell people : “ It’s like a simpler, more fun version of MTG “ because for me it really is. Great video! I look for Lorcana to be around and getting more popular and stronger as years come.

Thank you very much. I think there's a possibility that we do get more Illumineer's quest boxes at some point, it might be a good time for a second one. I do wonder how they will change the design to keep it challenging though, I feel like once people found out how to lock out Ursula from even playing the game it got fairly easy.

I commented on this previously, but it seems the person took the comment down so here we go again. I've literally had a discussion with the lead developer of Lorcanito and he assured me this video is fine. You can check the comments section of the older guide to see for yourself. Also I'm not the only one talking about it, there are plenty of other content creators discussing it and letting people know it exists.

i bought 1 of every artwork for the lorcana sleeves, since i was collecting all of the first 6 waves of starter decks as more of a "board game" set. some of the edges were bent on a few packs out of the box so its consistent across the board. and while they look nice, the shuffling is worse than molasses

As someone who didnt buy the troved right away i honestly love them. Potential of more from the packs and i didnt have any lore counters until i purchased one. Plus the ability to store my bulk somewhere now and not take up space in my binders just makes me feel good haha

As someone who bought the lorcana sleeves since it was my first tcg I def wish I wouldn't have just having them in my deck box caused them to be "damaged" mildly. I moved on to dragon shields for now and I use the old lorcana sleeves to protect my foils when I put them in the binder.

I like the breakdown of sections catered to different levels of players! very thoughtful lol, also it's not you, but it's funny the footage of the official gateway gameplay at 1:40 has a misplay. (Judge!) lol. How Far I'll Go player puts 2 cards in hand then seems to choose an old card to put into the inkwell.

Ya I agree. The additional cost to discard a card for RLS pushes it over the edge imo. I guess it could be better if you need a discard engine so you take adv of it.

I agree with your system for evaluating cards, and I think this is where every card should start. One of my favorite parts about deckbuilding is looking for strong synergies that elevate bad cards into great cards. That new Sugar Rush Speedway comes to mind. Alone, it looks pretty unrealistic and bad, but combined with certain cards it’s an amazing combo.
