It's so sad to hear all these stories of people who went to tech in South Korea... not only with black people with white people from England for example being dissed because of her English accent ... just insane. It's sad that these things simply exist...

I'm glad that someone finally spoke on the representation problems you mentioned in the video. 💛 In a game with only two Black characters, it's very yikes that Demarcus is seen so negatively. It definitely impacts him more than the White parents, and is just more evidence that Black characters have to try harder to be likeable because some people won't like them based on their appearance alone, so being highly flawed on top of it just gives them "justification."

The irony that I got this comment hours after one of my students grabbed my afro today...I'd like to add that if you're in a country where you're teaching kids your language, it's really helpful to have a member of staff back you up in the child's primary language. In South Korea, a lot of coworkers stood up for me or translated what I had said, but so far, in Japan, my Japanese coworkers just stand there or act like it's not happening when it should really be a teachable moment to get involved in... Anyway, I hope you have many pleasant experiences wherever you are!

In Japan, you own your own visa unlike in Korea. If you're young and want to teach in Asia, go to Taiwan. I work at a university in Korea, so not easy to leave. I prefer Taiwan. If I had a comparable offer in Taiwan, I would leave.
@deeyandra4 ай бұрын
@@QUINTUSMAXIMUS Everything you said! 💯 I'm back in Japan at the moment and definitely appreciate the visa freedom, but I've found that Japan doesn't suit me anymore... I studied Chinese in Taipei for 5 months and I definitely would have stayed if I had found a job for a higher salary, so I totally understand you not wanting to give up a university job salary. I really hope you can find a comparable job there someday because Taiwan is such a great country to live in 😩👍🏾
