Cool that it’s 8 or 16 ohm speaker output. I’d also like to hear it through a more reasonable cab. Putting it through a Friedman 4x12 isn’t really a good representation of how 99% of ppl would use it. Would love to hear it through something like a regular 1x12 EVH cab or like through some crappy Marshall cab with cheap ol 70/80 speakers. But through your Friedman it sounds epic. Just unrealistic.

Love and hate this song all at once. Way back when I was 19 or so (87), i wrecked my friends truck listening to this coming home from a party at 5 in the morning. we were lucky we didn't end up dead in a ditch. Such a beautiful, peaceful song. Put me right to sleep. To this day, I flash back when i hear it.

I have a Jackman and a Bluejay. These are friggin' awesome. I have them right on the pedal board and have other drives and modulation pedals in the clean channel Delay and reverb are in the effects loop.

Thank you for the video, Marty. I think we have similar opinions on these guitar sounds. I thought all three have a similar tone overall, but the Frankie has a more rounded tone, if that makes sense, and the Relic is brighter, or sharper, than the other two,

They all sound pretty close but by my ears the white relic sounds best to me.🤘

Fun fact: Nicolette Larson is actually singing in the background of this track and its the only van halen track that has a female voice in it. Eddie asked her to sing on this as a favor for playing guitar on her song "Can't Get Away From You" in 1978 on her debut album.

The 5150 striped is definitely much brighter. Too bright for me. The Frankie and the Relic are much more balanced in frequency.

5150: Darker, much more of a low end Frankie: Tad bit higher still a bit of low end Unstriped: more umph and twangy These are all my opinions, but one thing to remember tone comes from the hands too, great video!

Love the cleans on the silversky But when it comes to high gain starting from the SE’s up to their $5000+ guitars they sound somewhat muddy not as articulate as a gibson

I played the EVH Frankie Relic today at GC, I thought it was really cheesy. It did sound and play okay but not as well as my Wolfgang or my Charvel SoCal.

The relic sounds most like a strat, probably a slightly lower output on that particular pickup. Thanks for the video and comparison. Would you mind sharing if the 5150 is an obvious sticker/decal on top of the paint?
