I had one of these in neon orange as a kid, that and a green Holmes TropiCool. They were both awful. I ended up taking them apart later on to salvage the motors. I did a test with the fan blade on the motor with none of the grilles or anything on, and it quieted down and moved significantly more air. Still wasn't that impressive because of the blade pitch, but quite an improvement. It seems the noise and performance issues mainly stem from the aerodynamics of the grilles, as you said.

Sadly if the humidity sensor goes bad, it will brick the unit unless you replace it. No way to bypass it without disassembly.

Unfortunately, that switch has a confusing design: normally, on a double-pole switch, one would expect the line and load connections for each hot (black or red) to be on the same side of the switch: and you wired it that way! With all the effort you put in, yours must be the best Christmas display in the neighborhood! (Where I live, it seems that people put more work into their Halloween decorations.)

Bright, but produces a ton of heat. I believe these used to be made in Hungary, but eventually they switched to China. Not sure if this bulb is made anymore. I believe the 300 watt ones still are.

You probably already know this but the holes on the jaws of the wire stripper directly under the stripper blades are for bending the wire to make the eyelet for tightening the wire under a screw. You insert the wire in to the hole and bend the wire around the edge. Someone showed that to me a while back. I really enjoy watching you work. The amount of work that you do around your house and other projects are just amazing!

I'm going to be really honest on this if you want flicker free LED or DEL you're going to want to pick up a high frequency inverter off of alley, express 12V in OUT 120V AC and I believe it's up to 20 kilowcycles per second switching, no visible flicker, at that frequency. Not all DEL sets will work on it.

My elementary school had one in the office near the printer/photo copy machine. I remember the sound of this machine very vividly. I don't recall much about it becides it being Panasonic branded. They also need a Panasonic pencil sharpener from the early 2000s, it was one of those models with the motor mounted on the side and a gear reduction to the sharpening spindle apparatus. I feel in this video you overestimated this piece of equipment. This is like comparing a Lakewood HV-18 from 1980 to a model from 2008. This product still does the job that it is built for, not nearly as good as the previous model but it still does the job and that's what's important. If this is in some sort of institutional setting I think it would be just fine.

Great job on (oiling) the squeaky windmill! But honestly, if I hadn't clicked on the video, I wouldn't have known that was the main focus. The title and thumbnail didn’t really make it clear that oiling was involved, and I think viewers shouldn't have to click just to find out what the video is really about. It feels like the title and thumbnail should give a better idea of what to expect, so there's no confusion.

@@JordanU I wasn’t trying to troll, just sharing my thoughts on how the title and thumbnail might be misleading. I really think titles and thumbnails should be clear about what the content is, so viewers don’t feel confused or misled. It’s not about criticizing the video itself, but just about wanting to make sure the content is represented accurately. I just thought it was something worth mentioning. Hopefully, that clears up where I’m coming from.

I know I might be the only one saying this, but I really care about the success of your channel and the happiness of your viewers. That’s why I’m bringing up the title and thumbnail issue-it’s not about criticizing, but about making sure everyone’s on the same page. If clarity can help improve your viewer experience, then that’s what I’m aiming for. I just want things to go well for you.

I still have the brass and antique vanilla models. The brass is still in the spare bedroom. Quite frankly I did have some theory that it would move more air in a larger setting. As it turns out my spare bedroom is 8x11 and air is present all throughout. It’s not a strong gust but it is doing something in that kind of room. Especially with it being flushmounted. The blades are pretty wide and they don’t have much space in between to move a lot of air. There are some other fans with the palm blades that are more effective in a way they move air. Some are stronger some others are not. The brass model retailed for $199 and the antique vanilla with the light retailed for $250. I have a 2006 Home Depot catalog and on the very first page shows one detail picture on the creation of the Antigua blade. And for the construction of the blades, my vanilla one its blades have some cracks and dings and are all just worn down.

I love all the old brochures so much. It's a very appealing fan. If you assume it's style over substance then performance is fine, if you wqnted air movement over everything you'd have a 56" industrial fan so it's what you need I guess. Great video

I have observed that after so many seasons of use, the bulbs seemingly reach the end of their design lifespan and start burning out in large numbers all of the sudden. For me, this seems to be around the 10-season mark. And when you have tons of bulbs going out at once, you’re bound to have a shunt failure, causing the entire section to go out. Considering how replacing every single bulb makes the deer work perfectly, I’m certain that’s what’s going on with them.

My high school biology teacher had one of these around 2009. Seemed really noisy and weak, it was the only fan in a large room. Most of my teachers didn't have fans at all so it was better than nothing. Now most schools have a/c, go figure.

The universal remote @5:03 is interesting. I didn't know Hampton Bay ever offered anything like that, I'm surprised that wasn't a bigger hit within the ceiling fan industry. I've been plenty of places where people have lost/misplaced their fan remotes, but rarely have I heard of people losing their television remotes. I don't think I've ever looked through those early 00's Hampton Bay catalogs, they have some really nice staging.
