Hey John just a heads up, i think if you want to sear steaks on the opposite side that you did, there are some videos out there that do some thermal readings and the right side of the grill gets significantly hotter than the left. Might only pertain to the smaller size grill though.

where did you get that mat on top of the pellet cover?

Yummy. We love Peruvian Chicken. It looks delicious. You would need the Aji Sauce to go with it.

My Searwood is being delivered in a few days. I got the griddle insert for it. I should be able to use that for pizza right? Like a pizza steel?

Dare I say you may want to buy the rotisserie! I did for mine and no regrets. Killer top rack roast tho.

Does it taste like wood-fired pizza? Or, more like oven-baked?

It's a combination of that. There is definitely a sweet wood kiss of flavor on it for sure.

How many pellets did you blow through to make one or two pizzas? How long to get that Pizza stone at 500 degrees?
@johnfreeman4404 ай бұрын
Pizza stone to 490 to 500 degrees 7 min after 600 on the grill was reached. Looks like about 7 min a pizza but could easily run 2 stones at a time. If you do the math with the Weber consumption statistics for 600 degrees at 6.6 lb/hr., my time at 600 degrees to warm the stone and cook both pizzas one at a time would be $1.15 using B&B pellets at 40# for $19.99 at Academy. Throw in 15 min to get to 600 from start and looking at $1.60 for the pellets to cook 2 pizzas with the single stone and 4 pizzas running 2 stones. I feel like that's acceptable to get wood fired pizzas. Figure $3.29/hr. At 600 degrees at my current pellet prices. Thanks for your comment!

@@johnfreeman440 wow! Great calculation. For those of us that are tightwads, this is good info. I have refrained from getting a pellet grill due to the possible cost for fuel.

Due to limited space on my deck, I'll probably continue to cook them on my Weber. I have a dedicated pizza oven attachment on my GMG that connects directly to the fire pot that could hit over 700 degrees but was a bit of a hassle on install and warm up time. Thanks for your comment.

Great video! Thinking getting one of the Searwood XL. How many pizzas can you cook at one time?
@johnfreeman4404 ай бұрын
With appropriately sized stones, you could probably get 3 across the main grate. Given airflow considerations, I would personally likely limit it to 2 but YMMV. 3 medium sized stones might be awesome. Thanks for watching and asking a great question.

We have a local pizza place in the small town where I grew up and this is my best analog of their addictive fare. The secret is they put uncooked sausage or hamburger directly on the sauce and fresh shredding a quality whole milk mozzarella. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

Thanks! I truly believe that this is a completely new way to utilize pellets as a fuel for outdoor cooking. The ability to apply such high temperatures to the entire cooking surface is a game changer. I look forward to your future videos. I applaud you on your biscuit test part deux. It showed you care enough to get the accurate results and that can't be said for everybody on the platform. Bravo. I appreciate the comment for sure.

It was really great. Exceeded my expectation for a first run. The direct heat that the grill provides circulates so much better than a standard pellet grill so you get 600+ degree heat pouring over the top of the pizza AND thermally charging that stone. Thanks for the comment!

For the people here to see the capabilities of the Weber Searwood series...what else would you like to have demonstrated? I saw a lack of searing content on KZbin for this grill and it really is the innovation of the design - along with direct grilling power using pellet fuel. Do you want to see the construction of the unit inside and out? What cooks would you like to see? Controller and app demonstrations? I'm open to anything. It may be that some of the creators that were burned a little by the SmokeFire intro 4 years ago and the initial issues may be taking a wait-and-see attitude on this and for good reason. I'm just so impressed with this peice of equipment so far that I would like to allow others to see what amounts to a pellet grill that smokes with the best of them but can also cook with the direct heat performance similar to a gas grill. It really is a new way to look at pellets as fuel and is shaping up to be a true all-in-one device for those with limited space or the desire to buy just one product for outdoor cooking.. Between the pellet smoking performance, direct higher-heat performance, and the griddle insert - this could be a great option for such a person.

Maybe lots of thin stuff to see if the whole grill can handle grilling at once? That’s my biggest question mark for switching to pellet. Love a good charcoal sear on fajitas/chicken when making carne asada. I’m between this and a Weber kettle 26

Would love to see the griddle insert in action. Can it do everything a standalone griddle can?

I would love a startup video that shows internal temp up to max temp. I am a gas grill person who would love to transition to a pellet grill, but live in tight quarters. Don’t think I would smoke most summer days with close neighbors and open windows. Fall, winter & spring would be for smoking. In summer, would want to grill on it 350-600 temps and wonder how much smoke they give during startup to those temps. I know once they hit higher temps , the visible smoke is much reduced. How bad is startup? Thanks!

Not a fan of grill grates. I like a sear that goes over whole surface
@johnfreeman4404 ай бұрын
I agree...not a fan of line grill marks only. Because of the 600+ degree heat being circulated around the grill cavity, I opened the lid for the last move of the meat and the already seared topside was bubbling and browning on the entire like it was in a 600 degree wood air fryer. LOL Dedicated charcoal and gas setups may still be superior, but this is a new bar for consumer pellet grill searing. Appreciate your comment.

then turn the grill grates over and you got a flat surface!

I thought the "manual mode" set at 10 was supposed to be used for searing steaks.
@johnfreeman4404 ай бұрын
I wanted to see if it was fine at 600 on the controller. Manual mode, I believe, is for when you will be cooking with the lid open for longer periods of time. i tend to sear with the lid down a majority of the time so I went with temp. I may experiment with manual mode next time but this produced an excellent result out of the gate. Thanks for asking.

Looks good brother! Do you know what size those grill grates are?
@j_dun48304 ай бұрын
Yep same question, I know u can buy the Weber frame and diamond grill plate for it but those are prob cheaper.
@johnfreeman4404 ай бұрын
Those GrillGrates are from my GMG and just laying on top of the factory grate. I believe they are 16.25" deep by 10.25" wide. The depth for full coverage front to back is 17.325". That is not required, as you can see. They are available at: www.grillgrate.com/product-category/grillgrates-for-pellet-grills/?_normal_search=Sear They also now sell a universal sear station that is 15 inches deep for a really budget price.
