Thanks for the video, looking to catch some crawfish in SW Washington, I have some blaze orange paracord already, do you think that color would scare the crawfish away or should I get some natural color paracord like you used?
@KainOutdoorsАй бұрын
I dont think it will bother them. There is a company that makes orange traps and they work fine. It might attract thieves though.

@@KainOutdoors thanks, since I posted this comment I watched another video and the guy said the same thing, easy to spot for thieves, so I will go with the natural color. 👍

I agree. Fish finders are installed on almost all "fishing" kayaks so having actual through hull from factory seems like it should be included. Light should definitely be something that motorized kayaks have from factory.

I still use the silt barrier every year but I just burn holes without the the board. It doesnt last more than a year or two because I have to remover it to add soil underneat and it tears up pretty easy. It is cheap though. The biggest problem is it gets too hot in teh middle of summer and cooks plants but early spring and fall it make growing so much easier because the weeds get so bad.

Thanks for great videos, great narration, great visual perspectives, and information out of your experiences that had me glued to the screen from beginning to end and hanging on your every word. I found myself concerned for your safety and well-being as you performed that death defying tightrope balancing act on your kayak.. lol. And so glad that it appears that you are wearing a flotation device just in case you decide to go for a dip. I know that your paddles probably float and maybe even your net, but I'm concerned that you do not drop your blow gun fishing rod combo in the water. wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to tether your rig just in case or attach some kind of Styrofoam or otherwise flotation device that would keep some portion of it above water and in your sights just in case. Anyway, we have no doubt that you know what the heck you are doing and so there's probably nothing that was said here that you haven't already deliberated on. It is my recent discovery that my Taino/carib ancestors fished and hunted and defended themselves with blow darts as well. Is my sincere intent to reclaim and master that part of my ancient culture. It is a very good feeling to me to see you living and exercising and sharing about this great ability to feed yourself and your family. thanks ever so much again.

Did you drill all the way through the head? If so how did you drill through all 8 inches?
@KainOutdoors6 ай бұрын
I made the head out of three pieces. 2x2 on both sides that i clamped together and drilled. Then I attached them to the center piece and drill from both sides, using the first hole as a guide, to meet in the middle. Hope that makes sense.

This vid showed in my feed tonight. When you pulled up your anchor and I said oh cool just like mine. I read your description and you credited me and I thought that was awesome. Stay safe out there.
@MrT137 ай бұрын
I guess since you put this out. I been using one of these about 25 years. Here’s a couple things. An anchor with just 8-10’ of string past the pole helps stabilize it in muck so it don’t pull over. A couple in line helps too. Couple versions but more importantly. If you put a 1/2” pipe 5’ inside a 3/4” and get a 1/2” clamp you have an adjustable pole. Also a yo-yo or Cuban real works best cause what we do is pull all the tension out of the puller and lock it in one of those cheap kayak anchor clamps. The one Where it’s got ridges backwards. Or just put a loop in main line and put it on somewhere a cleat or bolts or whatever ready to release. Then if you got interest just release it and let it go back on its own. Put the yo-yo on or in something where it just spools out. Milk crate with towel in it etc. If you want to be fancy… since they are adjustable, use two off the same main line. Kayak I use 1. Boat we use 2. And often no other decoys…
@MrT137 ай бұрын
The spreader bars we make are just pvc + with bungee in just one direction so it pulls apart and folds up quickly and goes in the same bag as the poles, reels, anchor, yo-yo everything. Get a pop up canopy replacement carry case… they are like 15$ everything two full sets 2 anchors poles everything goes in one bag with wheels on it…

Can't wait to use this !! Good luck carving

how was it possible for the top angler to catch 10,755 pikeminnows in 5 months? That would be about 72 keepers per day without missing a day and that's if you fish 12 hours per day. and catch 6 keepers per hour.
@KainOutdoors8 ай бұрын
They have been doing it a long time and know many spots. Basically live on their boat and fish 24 hours a day. I wish I knew the secrets myself.

@@KainOutdoors thank you for the reply. the math just doesn't add up though. Hard to fish 150 days straight with no days off for 12 hrs a day and average 72 keepers each day. Maybe catching them year round and stocking them, commercial nets who knows.
@KainOutdoors8 ай бұрын
@@rolandgarcia9140 I dont know. i talked to the checkers and they say some guys have 100+ days. That can make up for some of the days off. Maybe husband wife team? I wish I got half those numbers. My best day so far is 21. Caught 12 out of one spot in a couple hours in a kayak so I think it could be possible if you run and gun it but maybe Im just a sucker for the dream of it.

I applaud your creativeness..... I did discover a flaw. The clothesline retractor....it is not a very strong spring....if the line or a decoy hangs up on a weed, its not powerful enough to retract especially given the overall weight of 5 decoys and wet cord. Given where I hunt or where others hunt, it might be a hinderance rather than a benefit over some type of bungee.
