I wonder if I could set up belt squats with titan selectorized lat pull down machine? However I would like to start on top due to bad knee
@shedgymzfp4404 Жыл бұрын
If it was based on my design, you would have to have to ratcheting safety strap ( or some type of feel) hanging from the ceiling above your belt squat pulley. This would allow you to ratchet the weight up to your starting point. It would also need to be allowed to lower easily so the weights don’t crash down when you are done

Edit. Reel not feel

Nice work . I opted for steel gas pipe . Floor flanges and 1” ID gas pipe works great . I have a short ceiling unfortunately, 7’ , so I built vertical racks from 2/6” wood , and installed the floor flanges with 1/4” bolts . It has no problems holding 4-45 pound plates on one pipe . I was trying to figure out what to do with the sharp ends,as I’m not a very good welder . Luckily in the communications industry we use large thick walled heat shrink . I covered the pipe with the shrink and it worked very well . photos.app.goo.gl/zERvtT3DT7ttQJSG8 photos.app.goo.gl/znMFiDddqCPvGh8m8

i have seen so many diy pulley systems videos lately almost all are similar but not even one points out the diy accessories such as lat pull leg holder or weight pin stool or systematic cabling system that enables quick hook on or off like this video has shown. This video deserves more views.

Great job! I'm doing something similar using 2x6's. What was the length of the dowels sticking out?
@shedgymzfp44043 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Depends. They are different lengths depending on the plates I planned to put on. Iron 45s are about 1.5 inches. So about 4-4.5 inches if two 45s are going on a peg.

This is the best. My very first thought for wall plate storage was to bore holes all the way through the vertical support for the pegs to go through, and also a plastic sleeve on the peg to protect the bore of the plate from wear. I look online, and everyone is just butt attaching black pipe. No thanks. You did it right my man! And boring the holes at a 2° angle is perfect, it’s something I didn’t think of! Thanks!

How much weight have you had on the pin? I have a loading pin I made out of wood for grip work (I don't go past about 75lbs which it handles perfectly fine but I expect to eventually get to 300+ lbs for lat pulldown and/or abs crunches.
@shedgymzfp44043 жыл бұрын
I’ve had over 300lbs on it for belt squats. I wouldn’t expect the pin to be the thing that fails. Although if I was going to put more than 400 on it I would probably epoxy the caps on both ends of the pipe (which I should probably do anyway)

Would you ever consider adding a bolt or screw through the dowel and 2x4 for overkill sturdiness?
@shedgymzfp44043 жыл бұрын
That would be 12 large bolts and for my set up they would have to be structural lag screws. More likely to split the dowel than anything. As long as your not hanging much more than 2 45s on each, they are plenty strong. Think about a peg board. Those have to hold people over 200 pounds with a thinner dowel.
@kurtlarson20613 жыл бұрын
@@shedgymzfp4404 that makes sense. I hadn't thought of it that way. I have a tendency to overbuild things. Was this a poplar dowel? Or another kind of hardwood?
@shedgymzfp44043 жыл бұрын
@@kurtlarson2061 poplar. Bought at Lowe’s as they seem to have 1.5 inch in stock more often than HD. bring a measuring tape or calipers though because a lot of the dowels were under the stated diameter, which can make them real sloppy when you drill a 1.5 inch hole.
