Can't really say Capa without including Taro and Chim in my opinion (but then that is the limitation of AI). Especially since there is such controversy about which images are actually Capa's or Taro's...

Why do people such as me posts lots of pictures? Because many shoot them as memories, for themselves and friends and family. Indeed, when people want to earn money from their pictures, they need to be selective and show only their best. But for most people, it is about showing their memories to others who are close to them. But it is correct that sometimes it is laziness when people post all their pictures, including bursts of 20 pictures of non moving objects. In those cases, people, even those who know them, stop following them.

You made that up - what ChatGPT said about Justin Mott, right? No?! Okay, you've done work for The New York Times. That work, the NY Times' experience with YOU as a photographer, might give you a leg up on other photographers who have not (worked for The New York Times). ChatGPT has to go somewhere for its answers, and the chances are - unfortunately - that it probably starts with The New York Times. Nobuyoshi Araki should have been No. 1.

I still rock a DLux 6 in the studio for macro shots - it's really hard to beat for close ups. Lovely little Summilux 1.4 lens on it For travel - The old Leica X series (the XVario in my case), is uniquely wonderful, and you can still pick up a good one for well under 2k. The rendering is really unique

Yes, rise up against Adobe! May I commend to your attention the absolute classic photojournailist's workflow. No photographers will be harmed. Photo Mechanic (which is made by actual people. The most upstanding, honorable ones you'll ever find in the software business) works just fine with Affinity Photo instead of Photoshop. Photo Mechanic Plus adds a library management system that works like a real professional one (works like the one your friends at the Times use. Or used to use when I worked with them anyway.) instead of the silliness that Lightroom and the weaker silliness of CaptureOne. As a Leica guy, PM+ should be right up your ally. I won't lie. After thirty years developing some expertise in Photoshop, I'm finding a bit of a learning curve with Affinity, which works quite differently. Overall, I think I'll find it as good or better than Photoshop. You can do a more completely non-destructive workflow. Extremely reasonable price. I don't see anything abusive in their EULA. Downside for me is that, like Photoshop, the layered files take up a ton of disk space. ON1 is a complete Lighroom replacement with better editing/processing functionality (Photoshop-like; everything's an adjustment layer) Completely non-destructive. Upsides include no depending on a stupid Lightroom-like central database (it uses sidecar files instead) which makes it fit better in a professional workflow IMHO, very thrifty with disk space (the sidecars are tiny), super reasonable price, and no abuse. Downside is that it needs a reasonably fast computer. I don't use all of it. I do Photo Mechanic > ON1 > Photo Mechanic. Personally, I'm not a great fan of Capture One. It's metadata functionality is a bit iffy and it's archiving is super weak. I never found its processing/editing to be as superior as some people have. Cheers. *One tip if you use Affinity with Photo Mechanic on a PC: Starting Affinity with the Control key down opens a dialog to delete your preferences, which you have to cancel out of. I find that starting Affinity beforehand saves that annoyance. On a Mac, the Command key doesn't trigger that dialog, so plain sailing there.

I agree but a lot depends on the context in which the term "professional" is being used. At its most fundamental, the difference between "professional" and "amateur" (in any profession or trade) is that the "professional" demands payment for provision of their services whilst the amateur does not. Being "professional" should be obvious from the quality of work output - but that anticipated difference in quality isn't always guaranteed. Then there's the difference in attitude. Turning up prepared and on time, putting customers at ease, delivering the output on time and on budget, sticking to the brief, etc. Professionals should also be consummate project managers for what's within their gift to control. Portfolios and websites are critical for professionals, however, even imperfect ones should provide a good idea of the photographer's capabilities.

This video was basically: “don’t include pictures like this if it’s a bad picture, but if it’s a good picture it’s okay”😂 In case anyone needs to hear it. Your portfolio is fine. Put up pictures that your proud of and if they don’t work for someone than it’s not meant to be. Don’t take pictures that you don’t want to and don’t be afraid to post or display work just because someone told you not to.

FYI a PRO is somebody who gets paid for his photography and it is a substantial part of his/her total income, an AMATEUR not so much. It doesn't say anything anything about the quality and/or quantity of their photos, websites, portfolio or whatever. I can show you pictures that were not in focus and are the best in the world, won prices, got featured in many many world wide magazines and made the photographers for life . If your pictures are razor sharp, wonderful dynamic range, beautiful colors etc, but the subject does not catch the attentions of the viewer cause it is not interesting enough, it is not worth it all. Want proof, google you tube

Great advice. As a corollary to everything you mentioned, I'll pass on something I was told by a top-level pro when I was young and dumb: Be prepared to leave out your best shot if it doesn't work. At the time, I didn't understand why you'd leave out your best shot, but I realized he meant "favorite shot". So, don't get attached to any of your images so much that including one will ruin an otherwise good portfolio. Even if it's the best shot you ever took. This is tough advice for creative people, who tend to view their work like a parent sees his children. Hence your advice for a second and even third pair of eyes is bang on the money.

It's all so obvious yet few people do it. I've had a few customers ask to see my "out of genre" photos (stuff I shoot for fun or experimentation, or photos I rejected for one reason or another). I always ask them afterwards why they asked this and every time the response was that they wanted to get an idea of my approach to capturing images. Every time a customer has asked to see unrelated personal work has hired me for the assignment.

I recently purchased the Leica D-Lux 8 and had to return it. Despite its reputation, this camera relies on outdated technology from around eight years ago. It lacks phase-detect autofocus and relies solely on contrast detection, which makes focusing quite frustrating. The electronic viewfinder (EVF) and LCD screen are both disappointingly dim in bright daylight, with the EVF failing to match the colours of the LCD or the real world. Additionally, the menu system is sluggish, and the overall focusing performance is subpar. It’s disheartening to see reviews that don’t address these significant issues, potentially misleading buyers and allowing Leica to market outdated technology at inflated prices. Honest reviews could help prevent such misunderstandings and encourage manufacturers to improve their offerings. While I adore my Leica Q3, the D-Lux 8 is overpriced and falls short, diminishing the company's otherwise excellent reputation.

Sorry to hear you aren't happy with it. My reviews are genuine but I'm not a dedicated camera reviewer that compares to other brands and my channel is focused on what I care about and don't care about in a camera. For me, the things you mentioned aren't an issue for me but lack of weather sealing and no flip up screen disappointed me but weren't enough to stop me from buying it. I'm genuinely happy with this camera for how I use it. I think other channels are great at going through every feature and comparing and contrasting all use cases but that isn't what my channel is about or where my interest are for this platform. I totally understand your complaints about the camera, to each their own, but nothing is misleading about my reviews as I like to think consumers are savvy enough to go to multiple sources to hear differences of opinions. I only review equipment I own or have a strong interest in owning.
