Why did you put that weld stuff instead of threaded back?
@Kate_Short-For-BobАй бұрын
I swapped out to shorter bolts on the brackets securing the RTT to the bars. Saved loads of faff time winding the nyloc up the excessively long bolt. Still using a rachet spanner, but saves 5 or 10 mins across the 8 bolts

Thanks. Ive been thinking of something similar but off the side of the car - then it protects the car side as it comes down (my tail gate glazing is angled and the roof bars too far forward to take off the back)

Has anyone ever had a problem with instability of your vehicle while accelerating or braking with free surface in the pipe? Water weighs a lot! It's high up. It's on one side. Would it be wise to construct a simple small long pipe interspersed with wide perforated collars or flanges into the 6" pipe to baffle and break down the rush of water from one end to the other? Maybe I worked as a tanker officer for too long.
@natenesstv6685Ай бұрын
I have heard of people adding baffles and I think it is a good call. I have had the water blow the plug out when I accelerated the first time after filling it, I learned my lesson quickly really tightened it down and haven’t had that problem again.

@@natenesstv6685 Long Range RWD, early serial number. But, I don't think the battery size matters much on a road trip, honestly. I can't recall any recent trips where I've had to use anything close to a full charge for any particular stretch between charging stalls. And, the charging is so fast now that it's hardly a factor in trip quality for me. I'm about to trade in my 2012 F150 and my Model 3 for a Cyberbeast. Parting with my Model 3 will be hard. I've never had a car I've enjoyed more, or that's cost me less to own. In Idaho I charge at ~11-12 cents per KWH for daily driving. Such a great car, and SW updates have made it better and better.

On the road trip/range anxiety note, you should check out Out Of Spec Studios if you haven't heard of them. They run a group of channels that do a lot of EV testing and on their Out of Spec Motoring channel, they do a bunch of very long road trips with individual EVs as well as road trip races between various EVs, usually 800 miles or more. They show really well how to optimize your charging and get the most out of your range so you aren't having to wait for an hour at every stop. They're very long videos though, usually around 2-3hrs and some are even multiple parts each being that long, but they take you through the whole process. The race they did from Vegas to Colorado between the Lucid Air, Model S, and Porsche Taycan a few months ago is one of their best, and they just recently put out a 3 part series racing some of the new EV trucks from coast to coast. Their main Out Of Spec Reviews channel also does specific range testing, running them all the way until they die on the side of the highway to show how well the software in the car reports the actual battery capacity and how the car responds when the battery dies.

I have the Milwaukee 9.0 amp hr high demand battery and have taken it on a 3 night camping trip running it about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs per night and it was still running. So 4 1/2 to 6 hrs of light maybe more. I haven’t done a test yet. I’m sure it depends on how bright and what color the lights are set to.
