I also changed mine legion 7 paste its 6 month old laptop and Lenovo used shit paste cpu hitting 95 to 100° and gpu 68-70 after repaste with karyounaut paste cpu never cross 85°c and gpu stays under 65°c

Watched both the videos and they both were super informative. Is it possible to document the tear down and clean of your new Legion (5 pro 2021?). Also did get someone to bring the iFixit tool kit because the ones sold here are super overpriced. I have an amazon basics tool kit but it's a bit cheap, I think, and I am afraid to use those bits on expensive stuff fearing stripping. Any recommendations for a quality screwdriver for opening electronic devices.

I will be servicing my 2022 legion, and the ifixit toolkit I got it on my own from US it is very overpriced in India. You can use Amazon basics toolkit it is of good quality.

Hey man I have same Lenovo Legion 5 AMD version with 3060 and it been 2-3 years and it is overheating badly like CPU is 100C so like i tried to clean the fans but i think heatsinks are clogged and thermal paste so i was thinking which thermal paste you would recommend like it is great for my gaming laptop and yes i play lot of online game and high graphic style so something that would help me control my temps and will be great for gaming for long hours

I recently got ant infestation in my gen 8 slim 5 and they were taking out all the pink stuff from my laptop. I was worried about voiding warranty if I open it and I found your video. I’m thinking about replacing thermal pads as well. Can you recommend me which ones I should use? I’m currently thinking about buying thermal grisly ones as that’s the only name I know. I saw a previous comment mentioning PTM7950. Should I go with that? And what about the paste. Also please tell me how to apply them as they could be of different thickness and all. It’s still kinda new laptop and I’m devastated by seeing this many ants coming out of it. If anything happens to the motherboard I won’t be able to afford the replacement. Thank you

For thermal pad try using tpm 7950 for CPU and GPU , regarding vramas try using the thermal grizzly one as tpm7950 is a phasechange thermal pad so it will melt upon heating which is not ideal for the vrams.

hey SeeKing , Just leaving a comment for people in need and a bit correction , so the laptop you repasted on is Gen 5 which i am not sure about factory paste but all legion laptop from gen 6 use TIM called "honeywell PTM 7950 equivalent" and it is one of the best Thermal Interface material in current market for laptops , thats has been proved to last long and provide better results than regular thermal pastes . The paste you recommend are not so good as they pump out quickly if they are under stress frequently also another thing , you should not use paste which are made for pc , pc and laptop are not same thing , laptop components runs hotter than PCs. PTM 7950 is available on Amazon india . ( Your Gen laptop also uses PTM on cpu/gpu die ).

I'm aware about this ptm 7950 thermal pad, there are two things. 1. No one wants to invest 3-4k in a thermal paste change. 2. If you have a link for this thermal pad please share it in the comments section. The thermal paste I showed in the video is one of the most easily accessible thermal paste and one of the best ones under the price bracket of 500 rupees, me personally I have repasted over 5 laptop with this very thermal paste and all of them are still working extremely well under heavy load.

The thermalpad you're mentioning about is not easily accessible to general public, if it's available it's not from a genuine seller. The Honeywell PTM7950 is an industrially used thermalpad which is not available to general public. It would be a great help if you drop a link for this product in the comment section

PTM does go out of stock pretty soon so have to keep an eye on its product page . good for you that the paste you used is working fine but I don't think it can handle much thermal work for long period of time which PTM can for years due to its properties . The industry product being " PTM 7958" which is not available for general public. It's equivalent "PTM 7950" is available for everybody. Good thing it's atleast available here keep the price aside for once before the only option was to import. The thermal paste you used can pump out easily/quickly or it can't handle the sustained peak performance of laptop considering its a nid range gaming laptop. "PTM 7958" is industry specific which is not available for general public whereas "PTM 7950" is easily available . The seller is "JOYJOM" on Amazon India which also sells in other countries . You have to keep an eye on PTM Amazon product page as it stock/out of stock frequently. The other psste if not PTM which is good for laptop is ", gelid gc extreme" . But none can perform as good as PTM 7950 in current time

Hello bro mere pass bhi same laptop hai lenovo legion 5 ryzen 5 4600h and gtx 1650 wala variety and suddenly me last few weeks se boht jyada performance drop jhel raha hu khaas karke games me jaha mujhe 70+ fps aaram se aate the waha 50-60 barely touch karra mene apne gpu drivers reinstall karke dekhe automatically and manually bhi, fir clean reset kara 2 baar, 3 baar win 11 karke roll back kara (cuz ek baar stuttering wala issue fix hua tha isse), then aapki video dekh ke fans bhi clean kar liye fir saare ke saare drivers reinstall bhi karke dekhe manually and automatically but still issue fix nahi hora plzz aap kuch help kar sako to batao and sorry me boht lamba comment likh diya 😅

It's not necessary to put an anti static ring, and the opening of the legion 5 pro is going to be little different compared to this laptop, I recommend you should watch some disassembly video, after taking the lid rest all the processes are the same. I'm telling you this because I own a legion 5 pro with 12th gen i7 and rtx 3060 both the 12 th and 13th gen build is same.
