This means that both the screens will have same content on them, if you connect two screens you cannot play or run two different videos or application on the external displays.

Technically it should work on ipad. But all the adaptor does not work on apple devices try plugging the adaptor in charging first and then connect to ipad if it still not works i recommend you to replace the adaptor once.
