Good interview and Steven comes across very level headed and I'd imagine a very good manager. However, I have one disagreement regarding the pre lims. He basically explained how each team got beaten. And he followed on to say "if it wasn't for the premlims st. Thomas' would be out" I fail to see that as justification to keep the pre lims. The top two from each group should go the quarters, they're there on merit. The third place teams all got trounced. It's a dead duck

Sorry now but not sure anyone in Pearses were surprised. They are a brilliant team and have several senior Club championships and a Connaught title in the last few years.

Corofin well well beaten for the second year in a row by the Roscommon champs. The standard of club football is greatly overhyped and a reality check is needed. A few weeks ago Corofin were looking at an all ireland according to you boys now they're in "transition". Says a lot nobody can get near them in Galway, no forwards. Not one genuine inside forward coming through in Galway, bringing on Johnny Heaney when Rob Finnerty got injured in the AIF says it all. Doesn't say much for the inside forwards on the bench...

Brian and Kevin... Two of the finest hurlers you'd ever see. Neither big men, but they were outstanding hurlers. Not many around today like them in galway
Preliminary quarter finals are a waste of time. Top 2 should go through from each group and. Cut out all this malarkey. Waiting a month to hurl and the weather famous.

Sorry lads......ive ultimate repect for Joyce....and for Galway who we've had some great matches against in recent years , but, if you really saying, which it sounds like, that Armagh were some kind of soft touch for an All Ireland......really......a team that hadn't been beaten in 19 matches during 70 minutes of play !!!! You shouldn't have won because Armagh played better in defence and also going forward !!!!!

Galway bottled it no point beating around the bush. Joyce should go but he won't. Took too long to make changes and playing so negative a terrible watch.We need to be winning finals not losing them.
@Wrasseman104 ай бұрын
First of all well done Armagh. Tough to swallow but players gave their all. I was at match and I’ve tried to figure it out. I have come to one conclusion as to why we keep the ball so long and why we simply don’t score enough not just last Sunday. We are playing far too many players in our front 8 that won’t shoot. A team like Armagh did their homework. Ball has to be recycled too much to give our limited no of shooters the opportunity. Armagh did nothing different than all other teams that play that way. They did it better and had our shooters marked leaving others alone
@anthonym33514 ай бұрын
I feel the obsession with defense cost galway. And kerry should have won 4 or 5 all irelands by now but are obsessed with passing sideways and back ways. That style plays right into Armaghs hands who are fully deserving champions, but I can't help feel Jim Gavin would have told his team to go shoot the lights out against them and go attack
@caczter4 ай бұрын
better team? really? Galway had loads of possession and went sideways or backwards constantly. Armagh took their scores. and guess what? "the better team" doesn't make mistakes and kick loads of wides... Armagh were fully deserved winners.

Ive been involved with underage teams that had better planning contingency than what joyce seems to have had in place. Some of those frees were shocking, unfair on players not fully fit. Why not use them as impact players when game opens up from 40th min onwards? Boggling tbh. Armagh deserved it on the day but hard on the Galway lads to lose two. McGeeney took on new people in response to criticism & Joyce needs new voices in his mgmt team.

Sore sore losers. Armagh beat Kerry, Kerry threw it away. Armagh beat Galway, Galway threw it away. Both teams were solidly beaten.
@topman67274 ай бұрын
Actually galway did throw it away given the amount of possession and shots taken, solidly beaten is not accurate as it was a 1 point game with a last Ditch block by armagh, galway hit post to force a draw, lucky enuf goal armagh got also as was trying to hand pass over the bar, Saying all that I don't begrudge them as they have had so many tough days and deserve their day
@caczter4 ай бұрын
Galway threw nothing away, they had loads of possession and couldn't do anything apart from go sideways across the pitch several times.

Armagh ultra defensive 🤣🤣,what did Galway do against Donegal in the second half?
@dylanryan60054 ай бұрын
'Armagh play really defensive football' is he serious, it is the same defense as Kerry, Dublin, Donegal, Tyrone, Derry play, It was like Galway never seen a blanket defense before . Galway were so slow attacking and a lot had to do with people getting on the ball who had not intention other then to make a safe pass. I cant believe Shane Walsh is getting abuse, at least he tried even though he was clearly not fit and hasn't been all year.
@BadDubII4 ай бұрын
I was at the game and it could have gone either way. Galway just didnt have their shooting boots on at critical times throughout the game. I fully expect Galway to be there about again next year especially if Paul Conroy is still about. Also the Galway support was great and it was fun having the craic with them. 👍

Galway are a big 3 type county with minnow level success rate, they’ve lost 5 all Irelands for every 1 they’ve won. Even since 88 it’s played 8 and won 1. Biggest enigma in hurling, not easy change either, had a few lads come in and think they’d change it, Loughnane, Shefflin and never ends well. It’s not to similar to the England soccer job, talent is always there as is the expectation but without much to show for it. If you add up every all Ireland from minor, u21, club and senior Galway have the second most all Irelands over the last 35 years, just behind Kilkenny but difference is they’ve 13 senior all Ireland to Galway’s 1 in that timeframe (KK have their own problems too atm but just to show the difference 1st and 2nd place)
