Cathartic indeed . Well done Gents. I seem to recall a Dave Lucey at SAP Durban North , D 74 , in the late 70's

Hi Roger just reading your book Back from the Anger. I am mesmerised. Born in 57 in Port Elizabeth, I find it so relatable. Well done. You are a magnificent, brave soul. I only found out about Steve Biko when I went to Europe in the 80s. Lived in ignorance until I woke up. You woke up early. ❤

I never knew such a brave, big white man with a heart of Gold existed....still walks on this very hard and sometimes wretched earth by the way....until I heard your story by accident dead in the night one day on BBC Outlook. Man, I salute you Roger Lucey, I love you, you are a beautiful human being and one day I hope to jump on an international stage and just perform some of your heartfelt songs like this one and siiiing to humanity to be better, never to condone evil. In my world, you are a hero for all you went through. If you ever saw this I salute you, man. You inspire people to be great and one only starts being great by saying no to injustice, listening to your heart, mentoring your brain, and saying no when you have been conditioned to say yes when the whole world wants you to look away and nod yes.. A little sacrifice turns any mortal into a god. I wish you good health, happiness, prosperity, and loooooong life as you turn 70yrs and go solo...Be like Ruger Lucey for a day. #BatotoHeroes #Humanity #SouthAfrica #Apartheid

IM RUNNING FOR COVER RIGHT NOW... The damn virus are raging now, menacing one of my more beloved persons in the face of the earth...Damn, im crying, im breaking, colapsing like a stupid ice sculpture, unable to do anything....And you and your voice, like so many times since the first time i listened to you, conforts my broken spirit...Hold a stranger tonight, Roger....i need it...i need your voice to heal...im running for cover..

Only 254 views? So people don't know Roger Lucey? The man who the Special Branch operative Paul Erasmus haunted day and night and confiscated his records and poured tear gas powder in side air conditioners of venues where he played in order to disperse patrons and turn his career into a disaster? Well... Erasmus is dead now (2021) and Lucey lives on....

Any South African, especially in his/her 50's will find this just A-MAZING!!! Thank You Roger...at 55 I only discovered you tonight and I'm a fan!!! ...also to Paul Erasmus, who so many of us can identify with too, from those turbulent years pre-Democracy.

Great documentary, and well worth seeing in conjunction with reading his autobiography Back in from the Anger, which fills a lot of gaps.

Being the same age as Roger and growing up in South Africa, his songs have a special place in my personal history. I salute the man for the struggles he went through to be a musician in a time of stifled creativity.

Really nicely done, Roger. Even years after leaving South Africa, a visit of all the old song-writers on KZbin lift your spirits. Brings back memories of school days (a few years behind you and Patrick), and then the concerts at Natal University. Those were indeed turbulent times, thanks for your stories and music. Really like Rain in Bologna.

Greetings from the UK! Thanks so much for uploading these, your music means so much to me, it’s very much been the soundtrack of the last few years of my life and as a musician provides me with a great deal of inspiration :) After my last laptop died I lost all the audio files of these records and couldn't find them again on the Rhythm Music site. Any plans to release new music or tour?

Thanks so much for the kind words Sebastien, I am hoping to record in the next couple of months. It is long overdue and I now have a big bunch of songs aching to be recorded. Stay well and thanks again. Roger
