Overpriced piece of plastic garbage that can and will break many times over the engines life span potentially killing the pilot when it fails. I’ve had these starters fail on startup or blow up while running and jamming the flywheel to a dead stop and killing the motor on multiple Moster 185’s. The maintenance manual says to measure the gap between the spring and washers. In the video you make a measurement without the spring in place. Is there a reason for this? I'm trying to do this maintenance and am trying to figure out the correct way to do so.

@gary_marsh Жыл бұрын
At the risk of being outside the bounds of "what you SHOULD do".... can you comment about what the consequences are for running a prop that is has a mismatched reduction ratio. Would it be correct to assume that having a motor/pulley that was 2.68 reduction ratio and putting a 2.87 prop on it would be placing you at risk of poorer cooling and is the higher risk type of mismatch? And, if that is so, would running a 2.68-ratio'd-prop on a motor setup with a 2.87 pulley be a situation where you might lose efficiency but you shouldn't really be "risking damage or overheating"? In other words, is running a 2.68 prop that is mismatched relatively safe/OK but mismatching the other way adds risk? Is this correct or have I gotten this backwards (or maybe there are other considerations)?
@skysportsusa5010 Жыл бұрын
Good afternoon and thank you for watching. Let's take a 130cm prop. The 2.87 version will have more pitch then the 2.68. If you put a 2.87 prop on a 2.68 motor it is going to make it work harder, lower the max rpm, and create heat. If you put a 2.68 prop on a 2.87 motor you will not make as much thrust and possibly over rev the motor. I hope this helps. We would never suggest using the wrong reduction prop on a Vittorazi motor. Please shoot us an email [email protected] if you have any more questions. -Kyle

Great video / I GOTTA add: Use a non petroleum based lubricant to slip lines over swedge fittings. The problem with using “2 stroke oil”, as recommended in video is. The fuel line is made from petroleum products / lubricating it with petroleum accelerates decomposition of the fuel line….. and right at the most critical points. It’s like when you put a rubber band on your wrist & after a day or two it starts getting weak, loose, falling apart. That’s the natural oil secreting from your skin, migrating into the rubber band ( petroleum product ) so the oil from your skin ( petroleum ) is trying to break down the rubber band ( petroleum product ) to its natural state. Nowwwwww…….. All that said, YES, I realize it’s PETROLEUM that will be pumped through the line & yes, this too, at a slower rate than oil, corrodes the line. That’s also WHY it’s important NOT to use an oil based lubricant slipping on the line, that WILL accelerate the break down & your leaks WILL start there BEFORE you see the damage & much sooner than if you had not started with that oil based lubricant. Sorry it’s long winded / it’s really simple. Simply put, you could spit on it & it would be better….. a lil touch of dish washing detergent on the swedge. And there are plenty of petroleum free lubricants for sale just for this purpose & reason. Have fun, fly safe! #stayhuman
