I’ve seen Sam twice, once at Bartlett Arboretum south of Wichita with Jimmy LaFave, and once in Pittsburg, Ks. You have to see him live to really appreciate him, and he is very thoughtful and engaging to talk to. My wife and I saw him on our wedding trip, and he got up on the Mic and wished us a good life together and poked a little fun at us saying, “ it’s kind of crazy, but they turned down a wedding trip to Aruba just to come to Pittsburg, Ks. And see me!” He also kindly gave us a pkg of friendship cards of his paintings as a gift and signed it on the back, and signed the scarf we bought at his merch. Table. I’ll never forget his kindness and humor. Blessings, Sam!

I keep thinking I can get through this song without breaking down. That thought lasts until the first chorus. And my love and I are still alive and together. Anticipated grief.

I have three of his records, triggered by a chance hearing of this tune, on a UK BBC slightly 'marginal' radio programme. I found his delivery a bit off the wall at first, slightly off-tune, largely talked, rather than sung, but soon the strength of the message came through. Words are used as an artist would use colours and textures from his palette, to convey a message almost sublimely. Damn clever stuff: thanks, Sam - I'm hooked!

I'm embarrassed to say I've never heard of Sam Baker until a few hours ago. As I was praying for my beloved Aunt who passed a few weeks ago, I put out a picture of her and lit a candle...then after prayer I was guided to hear music...I was thinking of the song Amazing Grace but my intuition told me to ask Alexa to play Go in Peace...I didn't even know it was a song but I followed what I felt...and when this song came on I fell to my knees 🙏

I heard Sam Baker at the same time I found out about Jimmy Lafave, just before Jimmy Lafave passed away. At first I didn't get Sam Baker, I had to listen to him do two songs before it got through to me that this guy is profoundly great. This is the problem with living in the middle of the USA, in a rural area. There is not one progressive country or Americana station that I can get on the radio so people who the major labels ignore are invisible to me. I share a lot of songs from people, I shared Sam Baker on Facebook some of my friends got it but some didn't. Once you listen carefully, in a quiet room, no other noise to interfere with the total experience you really can understand how great he is.
