David is such an advanced soul, feeling so much sadness for his situation as I had a father that was quite difficult too.... these questions his dad asked and the way David answered them show what a gentle and forgiving soul he is. I wish you could know what a great impact you had on me back in the early 70s, I was 13 at the perfect time when you were at the height of your powers - and I was lucky enough to see you at Wembley. So much love 💖💖💖

Awkward, honest, open hearted, talented David. He did well in this with some really direct questions being thrown at him. I hope he found the love and light he constantly gave out ❤

Greetings. As a musician I appreciate the kind words for Mr. Cassidy (David, that is). And “Danny Boy” was a beautiful and marvelous choice. I do question the use of the word sarcasm for Mr. Jack Cassidy, as I thought sarcasm concerns word choice, facial expressions (not seen), as well as tone of voice. But there is a studied quality to his accent, something like British nobility. However, sarcasm as such I do not hear. I would be interested in what someone else thinks. Thanks for posting this recording.

As a young child I was planning on going to the show David is talking about at the Garden State Art Center in Homedale, New Jersey but it never worked out and now I stumble upon this audio interview from the Merv Griffin show which I watched as a kid growing up in the Philadelphia area. Can you say small world?, and I am now 61 years old.

How painful it must have been to discuss such private issues on tv with the source of your pain. And to hear a public profession of love you had longed for so long to hear in private, just the two of you, authentically.

Very frustrating that the interviewer kept interrupting! Very disrespectful to not let David gather his thoughts and answer the damn question. *Whoops!!*. Just realized the “interviewer” was Jack himself!!😊 I guess he STILL shouldn’t have interrupted David as much as he did… but I guess that was Jack.

Dear Lord, I so hope his father meant his words. I'm kinda thinking ,up until his ( Jack) 2nd failed marriage, subsequent personal problems, and David's popularity, he always loved his son, quite possibly, didn't articulate the words. R.I.P.

Jack treated David so awful. He was also so jealous of his own Son. David handled the questions so honestly aednd well. Jack never ever hugged him at all. He hated how well David was getting on so well. Told him I love you but he had say it in front of an audience. But never hugged him at all. No wonder David felt so insecure. I don't like Jack at all and what he did to David. Love and miss you David . My first Crush my forever Crush. Xx❤️❤️❤️

When Jack told David that he loved him there was laughter . It wasn't funny. I would have liked to have seen the show. A comment like that wasn't usual for Jack cassidy.i can only imagine the level of blush on his son's face. Something he only dreamed of.

I pretty much tuned out his death and wouldn't let my mind think about his passing for any length of time nor would I search the details on social media, it's 2022 and I'm realizing what I've actually had done blocking out the reality of David Cassidy's death. There, I said it #wastedsomuchtime RIP David ❤️till we meet again xo

Wow. That must of hit him in the gut. How sad that Jack Cassidy didn't sing with David more and had he lived longer, he could of sang with his other Sons. It's sad that David didn't do something like Lisa-Marie did. Get a pre recorded record / song that Jack sang and then added David's. Shirley stated that Jack had a great voice. And that infact Jack taught her somethings She could do with her voice. That is one thing about David, he always tried to be respectful. And he usually would tell the truth, as long as it didn't hurt anyone. He never said a bad thing about his Wives. And he still loved both his Parents, even though, he went to live with his Maternal Grandparents. While his Parents were out doing the Careers. He didn't even know his Parents were divorced for close to 4 years. Until one his friends told him. He had a lot of love and respect for his Grandparents too. He stated in several interviews that his Grandfather would do things with him. But it was difficult because of him being older. And his Grandparents were very faithful with going to Church every Sunday and to Bible Study every Wednesday. It's a shame the video isn't available.
