Can’t thank you enough for the video! I spent a year without my parking brake dreading the afternoon I’d need to remove the assembly in my 2009 Colorado. Fixed it in less than a minute with your advice.

In this video, you said the clutch doesn't need to be tightened too much cuz the spin will tighten it more. But in another video channel by a small engine repair shop "Chicanix", she really torqued down on that clutch nut to get it really tight. So I'm wondering what are the correct torque specs.

My 025 didn`t have that big washer behind the clutch from day one brand new, and nobody has ever touched my saw, so, i do know that it came this way from Stihl, with no washer. Mine is starting to piss oil all over the place when its sitting for awhile. If i don`t drain the oil tank when i`m done using the saw, it will all leak out into the storage case. I suspect the hose coming from the oil tank needs replacing. This is by far the BEST how-to video i have ever seen for the oil pump in the Stihl 025. Thank you so much for posting this video, it was a tremendous help! Also, the vent tube for the fuel tank is a weak design too. Watch for the fuel tank vent hose to be cracked if you start smelling gas if to tip the saw on its side.

I use a pair of kitchen pliers to put the clip back on with. It keeps it from flying off better than anything else I have tried.

I use a pair of needle nose pliers to "squeeze" the c-clip back on, with the other hand to hold it down so it doesn't fly away. By the way my 025 doesn't have the big black washer under the clutch but never has been a problem. Is it stock and is it really necessary (anyone)?

Thanks alot for the video, it was a great help! My 2009 had the issue twice so far, 1st time it cleared by itself because I had the assembly loose and I couldn't tell what cleated it. This time I didn't loosen anything but was able to clear it by running a screwdriver up around the top side of the pivot kinda where your video showed, it finally cleared and will engage again. Sprayed silicon lube up around there, time will tell if it helps. Anyway, thanks again!!

I am eternally grateful for your video, replaced the rear shoes(140k on original), lubed up the parts and cables, and still the parking brake wouldnt set. Today I unbolted the emergency assembly, and mostly unbolted the brake pedal bracket, then watched your video to figure out how to remove the brake plunger clip. After watching your video I reached up there and also tried w a screwdriver(couldn't see it). After feeling up there again it seemed the little lever piece was not in that stuck position you described so I pressed the parking pedal and it holds again, cant believe it! Saved me alot of extra work removing and buying another mechanism, thanks so much!!

This fixed the parking brake on my 2012 Canyon. It's a stupid failure but this video makes it an easy fix. If this video didn't exist I'd needlessly have the ratchet assembly out to fix it. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

Yup just had the same problem on my 04 colorado. Found it the hard way. I'd also just like to point out that it is possible to remove the cable from the pedal without cutting or disconnecting it from the bottom. You do have to unhook it by the tension adjustment "thingy" then remove the pedal bracket from its fasteners and push the cable and it will form a "U" shape kind of and then you are able to unhook it. Thanks for the video.
