August has been so busy for our family with two kids just dropped off at college for the first time a few days ago! Happy to see you've been knitting and spinning :)

August! I also struggled through When the Moon Hatched. It is such a cool concept but I also found it really hard to follow (and I read fantasy a lot). Something about the different names for the dragon species and which land they came from was REALLY hard to follow. In the end, I was not a fan. I also want to make a poncho (crochet)!

Glad to see you posting again. Summer can be busy and losing pets is stressful. I am looking forward to the later part of August when my kids go back to school and I will hopefully get my schedule back on track.

I live in Florida, and while August is still very much the middle of summer, I'm ready for fall knits. I got into spinning this year and I'm getting ready to start a traveler cowl with one of my handspun, which will be my first knit using my handspun. When the Moon Hatched: Yes! I started on audiobook and even though I read so much fantasy on audiobooks, I felt so lost in the worldbuilding and plot that I ended up having to tandem read. As soon as I had the ebook going to reference and read along at parts, it clicked. But audio only I was like "what the heck is going on."

A pleasure to watch you. Sending hugs for the lost of your dog. August is the best month of the year to reflect on the first part of the year and plan autumn knits.

I knit socks exclusively on 9-inch. At the heel and toe I switch to two 9-inch. So I work the heel one one needle while the other half of the stitches hang out, and then I drop the other needle when I'm picking up the gusset. On the toe I do the front stitches on one needle, and back on the second, so they always stay on two needles. This is what I've always done!

Pets are like our children and it hurts to loose them. It is completely understanding that you are grieving still. I’m glad you took a chill summer to self love. Hopefully August is a good crafty month!

I SO agree about the 75/25 base, and it is everywhere! It is so thin, with the 463 yds/100 g. I also would rather have a slightly thicker base with less yardage. I guess it’s just another of those “unpopular knitting opinions.” 🤪

You will really enjoy your EEW 6! I can easily spin a 4 oz braid on one bobbin and have spun several sweater quantities. I did purchase a battery from The Woolery that gives me 10+ hours on a charge and can now take my wheel with me to my LYS. Hope you like it as much as I do.

I am very sorry for your dog. We know what it is like. We are in the same situation right now, trying to decide when to call it. Our girl is already almost 19, but she can be pretty spunky still. But, we can see also how exhausted her body looks. It's so hard, but thank you for sharing your story. It gives us the strength we need.
