Golden spike is a new term for me. I mainly talk about type sections. Not the same, closest thing. This idea of the anthropogenic I used quite a bit, geologists tend to resist. When giving lectures on the everglades, a friend concludes with, it will all be .25 inches of ash in a few m million years. Lots of golden spikes in the Kt boundary layers, I think.

yes:Fo geologists to acceptthat the anthroopocene is replacing the holocene theyey would have to place themseelves in a thoght experiment thousands of years into the future, what would geologist sthen want as "proof" of the change that is what they would nedd to find now:present day. Sounds difficult. Amongnatural scientistsit seems lik geologists hae some diffiulty accepting globalheating. It is hapening to quickly for the time scles thy are used to.

While I am only beginning, I am looking to enter ecological studies myself. I appreciate your brief summary of this topic, and I look forward to further topics of importance. Thank you for your work in presenting this information.

Thanks for your comment. The two other videos about Gaia and the Anthropocene form a "whole" with those other videos in a sense introducing the idea of Planetary Boundaries (now Earth System Boundaries). There is some other content on the channel that might be of interest even if some of the video lectures are more geared towards students in my classes.

Thanks for uploading. I enjoyed the intro dilly and I appreciate a straight to the point delivery. What a tragedy for humanity. We all want to be a part of something but that something has not yet been humanity as a whole.

Thanks @michaelhart2715 for your comment. There is actually a lot more to say about the subject but then the video lecture would have swollen in terms of time. It is sad that humanity as a whole is living beyond its means so to speak. In the coming months I hope to produce more video lectures about each of the boundaries (now called Earth System Boundaries) but it takes some time to script, record and edit. Again thanks for your reaction!

Interesting to learn about the various parks and their origins. Can’t wait to visit in person!

Thanks Elizabeth! It was difficult to strike a balance between including pertinent information so that the essence of each park could be presented and time "constraints" so to speak.

The Deity V-Lav battery did not last as long as the manufacturer suggested. Have had to replace the battery once in 18 months which still is fantastic.

Thanks Richard! I just have to visualize that I am speaking to a group or students or friends instead of a camera lens. Perhaps years of lecturing helps?

Perhaps you find this video overly negative about Zoom. On the other hand, most of my most immediate colleagues are not exactly longing for yet another meeting on Zoom. So how do you think our students feel? Originally we were all stuck with our tiny video in the upper right corner and that is what our students saw: not engaging. I know that the VIEWER on Zoom can change how Zoom displays the "lecture" and the lecturer part of the screen can grow and shrink. But, as lecturers, we have no control over what our students see so we do not actually know for sure what they are seeing. With a pre-recorded lecture we can determine almost exactly what are students our seeing and hearing. And we can more easily keep a kinesthetic component, something which is lost when we sit and are just talking heads.
