Thanks for this! I am a Bullet Journalling enthusiast too, and will start using BuJo for my music practice too, after watching your video. Has your approach changed over time?

Even after nearly five years this is still my favourite Hobonichi A6 video! I've been using a Stalogy for a few years but now want to go back to the Hobonichi in the Spring. I hadn't subscribed to YT until recently so it took an awful lot of scrolling to find you again!! This is now in my saved videos. Very much looking forward to using the A6 again. Thank you!

@@yearlonglife First I used to be a bullet journalist, but I discovered that mixing personal stuff and work plans made me use the book less in order not to have to deal with professional concerns in my downtime. Besides I found I spent too much energy worrying about layouts. So I've turned to pre-printed planners. I very much like the Hobonichi Weeks because of the abundant room for lists and collections in the back, and also because I tend to deal with tasks on a weekly basis (not much is day specific, but often stuff needs to get done on a certain week). But then something feels wrong when it comes to keeping an inbox; using the notes pages for that feels a bit awkward and removed from everything else in the book. So I was now going to try and use my Hobonichi A6 along with an extra booklet for lists. Your video was very helpful in setting down the main approach. I'm still not sure one A6 page per day is enough room, and I'm also wondering where to keep a weekly list. Any ideas? :)

@@fabiomrbarbosa Thanks so much for your insights. I think the main premise of GTD (and something I struggle with) is that personal and business life is just too difficult to separate. One thing that could work well would be to think of it as contexts. Maybe you have an office Hobo for everything that needs to be done in-office and one for home, for things you can complete at home and maybe one for errands or when you're out and about. I kind of kept my A5 as the master Hobo and then used a weeks for when I was away from home, but didn't separate home or business. I don't think I covered it very well in the video, but I'd take a look at the way contexts work in the GTD system. Re size: I think it really depends on how many items you're taking into your inbox each day and then how many next action items you have. I sort of blend both together, so a day free A6 is working well at the moment but I'm taking up 1-2 pages a day. If I were to use a planner, I'd probably go for the A5 just so I have more 'thinking' space. Hope this helps!

I love how simple your planning is! I also love your videos. I wish there was more of them, however if you started a PhD I quite understand. I also understand you just finished your masters degree. I am halfway through my thesis now. I so want to be done with it and the year 2020 now! Thesis will be turned in early to mid spring. Also, with this virus, I learned not to write anything in pen for future plans including trips! My flight home to Denmark was cancelled and rescheduled four times. Luckily, I was staying at my parents.

I am just about to use my very first Hobonichi Techo A6 planner in the new year and came across your video. There is so much to like about your video but I just wanted to say that I love the "Zen Doodling" on the days in the monthly part of the planner that are from the previous month. Not only is that a great and decorative idea but they are really beautiful and colorful idea that add beauty to your journal. I plan to do that in my journal now. ( I hope they look like yours which are beautiful ! ) I love the progression of how you use your planner and experiments with different ideas. Nice video, thank you.

Hi Rosie, I'm not using it as much these days as I've since gotten into a better routine and so no longer need to keep so strict with myself. I found that keeping to a strict regimen like this really useful for about a month until the habits became really ingrained. I'm interested to hear how it's going for you?

Awesome comparison, thanks for taking the time to make it.... Does anyone has any of the hobonichi techo or cousin in any size that you no longer want/use that can be sent to me and in exchange I'd send a little planner surprise box with washi, sticker, planner supplies? I just want to try it before I fully commit, I really wanted to love my EC and HP but they're too bulky for me....Please dm om my insta @monalisaplans or comment if you do, thanks and have a great week

Loved all your videos on Hobonichi! They really helped me choose my first one (A6 Original). Your planning style is closer to my own than many of the other videos I've watched. So sorry not to have more to watch. Would love to hear what you think of the Cousin and the A6 size, now that you have used both, and whether you are still using Hobonichi or have you moved on to something else. In any case, all blessings and take care...

Awesome video - very helpful. I'll be using the A6 Hobonichi Planner for the first time in 2019 and have been trying to plan ahead for how I'm going to use it. I've used the TN version of the weekly planner for all of 2018 and wanted more space for daily planning. I like this video primarily because you do *some* decoration, but your primary setup is a) functional; and b) not full of tip-ins and fancy calligraphy, etc. I find that approach to planning, where so much time and effort are dedicated to making it look really pretty and perfect, super intimidating. So it's really helpful to see your approach, which is focused mainly on planning, with color used to make clearer distinctions between your scheduled tasks and appointments, and then some spontaneous doodling put in for inspiration rather than "perfection," if that makes sense. It's also nice to see this for the A6 Planner, because so many videos are focused on the Cousin, which is too much for me to carry around every day (I am a union organizer, so I'm out "on the ground" every day and carry my "desk" in my backpack - so I'm always looking to cut back on the weight and volume of what I carry.) I'm new to your channel, a new subscriber, and I'm going to stay tuned. Thanks for putting this content out there!

Thanks Joanna. I have wasted so many pages in my expensive A6 Hobonichi that I feel guilty for doing so! I guess I could go back and go a little mad with art and doodles? The Stalogy format releases me from that. Also I am not stuck with a Notebook/Planner for just 2018. With the Stalogy I start my year from the first day I use it. I ordered mine through Amazon UK, just the one. Its started wending its way from Japan. It should be here in about a months time or less. I ordered a B6 because I want to use it as a writers journal. So an entry might run over many pages with the odd journal entry in between. I am wondering if the pages are numbered? If not then I will do that before I start and leave a few pages at the front as an index. You have confirmed it was a good buy. Thanks again. x
