nothing is HONOURABLE about them. openly racist, openly bloodthirsty, killed civilians.. Henry Kissinger said: "military men are dumb, stupid animals".

says more about your character that you're using a Kissinger quote for your argument

@@MUZICxCENTRAL Kissinger is the lovable criminal mastermind of the SAME military institution that created these racist pillagers and violent murderers and thieves of civilizations. They stole Iraq's gold, oil, and opened Abu Ghuraib torture prisons...

It’s a stretch to believe some civilian reporter was with recon during the invasion of Iraq, but for the last three years those same magical hero magazine writers were too afraid to walk outside their homes and film the riots

Generation Kill is very popular with the Army - Aussies, Brits, Canadians and Americans. That tells you a lot about its accuracy regarding what live operations are really like to live through.

For real. Especially since, as he says in the books, he didn't spend the previous few years training and preparing to go to war.

Rudy is right imo. In my view even as a retired US Navy Chief Submariner, these guys (and my little Bro) who did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan are a whole other level.

To date, generation kill is the most accurate historical fiction about "my war." The humor in particular is spot on. Dark conversations about engaging prostitutes, rancid sexual encounters, spilling blood in every conceivable way spun in a way only guys who have walked in those boots can really understand and appreciate. I rewatch Generation Kill from time to time to bathe in "my culture." Its good art that will stand the test of time on par with the great Marine Corps stories from the older generations' wars; Full Metal Jacket, Jarhead, etc.

I can’t believe Gunny Griego went off about the book and the show, essentially calling all of these guys garbage just because they showed the world how much of a piece of shit he was. He went and picked out specific pages to bitch about and everything just to pretty much say, “nothing was ever my fault, I never did anything wrong and these guys all suck.”

As a retired Army Grunt being in Baghdad in May 2003 was like the Wild West, everything we did required thinking outside the box and bartering with Iraqi civilians was almost a daily task to get things the men needed since we didn’t have comfy tents and A/C like follow on units had. You wouldn’t believe the things we did and experienced, both great and sad.

Inserting a joke when it's most inappropriate. That's the attitude I can identify with. They give each other alot of shit, but they will fight to the end for each other. Glad they're on our team. Don't go changin.

We patriots know about the sacrifices of all our warriors. War is delightful for those who have no experience of it. Those who survive are living with the invisible scars and mental health problems are our heroes and those we lost our our forever young heroes. We will never forget.

the series was short but what amazed me was the change in these guys from ep 1 to the end, it was jokes and fun after sharp periods of terror getting into combat, then the fatigue became very noticable, the fatigue looked so real in the show, it went from fun and games to "when do we get to go home", watching brads character on one of those night watches just reading out pertinent information to his team "dont engage anything to our 11" while one guy is taking a turn digging in with a pick axe, crazy real

In the show they make Ray look kinda puny so he gets steam rolled by Rudy in that last episode. But he's pretty hefty. 20 years ago he must have been as big or bigger than Rudy in the show.
