@troylukans2174 mine was a run of 25-year-old half inch copper pipe that developed pinholes. The plumber used the thin wall half inch pipe and must have left some flux in a line, and it ended up getting corrosion. When I cut the bad line out, you could look down inside the pipe and see little mountains of green where it started corroding and produced pinholes.

@troylukans2174 Yes, I thought about ripping all my copper out and going with pex since it looks very easy to work with and durable. I would be just a little worried about rodents (we have flying squirrels sometimes). When I had my recent leak at first I couldn't find where it was coming from because pinhole leaks look exactly like very thin spider webs. I kept putting my hand in and trying to knock a spider web down and it wouldn't go away, and I would get a tiny amount of moisture on my hand. That's what a pinhole leak is like. The original plumber thought he would save money and use Type M which is very thin. Type L is thicker, and type K is the thickest and the most expensive. Once you start getting pinhole leaks, it's very likely you will continue to get more if you have copper that is 20+ years old. They appear more often in horizontal runs that are in cold water lines. Hot water lines will flush the old flux through and not cause the corrosion as bad.
