thanks, this makes my day!... When I did drum corps I couldn't read at all well, I was never taught so had to figure out what the notation meant after I copied others.

Uuggg I watch so many of your videos and didn’t realize you had these great interviews. I wish I could have asked how WGI might have influenced DCI. I feel like performance is emphasized in a different way. I remember RCCs show where they put their drums down and danced at the end and everyone was shocked. I remember asking Casey Brohard about it and him saying he had to practice a ton to not look robotic. II thought it was cool. It’s a more intimate space. You can see faces. You can see bodies moving. When I see DCI shows now they look similar. They look like WGI shows with brass. I think it’s a great move. Like Vega said “it has to evolve.”

Do you mean Chris “Burrows” (not sure how to spell his last name)… he was an instructor when I marched Black Knights in wgi? I think in 2005 or 06. That guys hands made marching sticks look like tooth picks. We called him bear hands. 😂

Hey Geoff theres a video of atlanta quest playing a flam exercise called MPD. I think you should check it out. Though the only video i can find was uploaded by atlanta quest themselves titled Atlanta quest 2020-Finals Lot, about half way thru the video. Its groovy as hell. Definitely challenging.

Fun little backstory on this video: This was the cadence we played when Keith Urban came to my city in 2007. Whenever he would play a city on his tour, he would reach out to the local groups and have a Drumline perform during his show while the stage crew transitioned to the next set. When he played in a city and couldn’t coordinate with any local ensembles, they would play this video on the Jumbotron while the crew changed the set. My high school got to perform because my instructor was also the quad tech at Mandarins, so he got us the gig since it was the offseason for the corps at the time.

here's a fun cadence for the beginner drummers, If you want to teach a simple but effective street beat for your drumline then Hot Pepper Cheese is a great option. What other Cadences stand out? SCV - Electric Wheel Chair?

dont know, lots of standard excises get "new" names over time. I played this when I was marching in Cadets many years ago, back then we just called it Triplet Rolls.

Will take a look, try bringing the snare vol on the app to about 60% and then turn up phone or iPad volume. Se if that helps
