For quiet practice, still using my 12” HQ RealFeel pad (yes, I’m old). I have learned to efficiently stack all my other pads currently not in use … probably not alone in this behavior. Nice option to be able to easily remove the snare “rods”; waiting for the FR custom edition 😂

yea FR custom one day LOL :) Realfeel with graffiti all over is still a classic choice!

I am really liking this Brittcorp pad! The Offworld Invader v3 has been my pad of choice for most of my practice with the grey Vic firth for quiet sessions and the Brash pad getting a lot of laptop practice. so Whats your current favourite pad??

My favorite is the vic firth quadropad (but note I'm a tenor drummer lol) For a snare pad my favorite rn is the stockpad, but the bottom side of the Carlos botello pad is my favorite for chop building

I only have 1 pad and it's a 6 inch evans real feel... so i suppose thats my go to pad. stacking it on dense materials like wood or marble, sometimes books, helps the feel a lot.

Pretty cool! I always wanted to ask you about that high tension pad that looks just like a top part of a marching snare drum - did you make it yourself by removing the drum shell from some old snare drum? Or is there a place where one can get them?
@naruke937310 ай бұрын
i think its a drum without the shell. Sdjmalik has a video on it. look up "Sdjmalik snare pad" and it should be the first video.
@FreestyleRudiments10 ай бұрын
yes as @naruke9373 said its the top of a premier HTS snare drum (with snare connected). mine has a different setup underneath with different wires and connectors but that was a custom job and the standard ones are pretty decent

I’ll never understand why drum corps all sound like they are playing on table tops?? Disgusting to my ears but explains these table sound crap pads! Geeze
@FreestyleRudiments10 ай бұрын
Drum corps is a competitive activity, snarelines are judged on how well they play together, as the activity progressed elite lines got tighter and tighter, to show off how they are better than the "other" line (so warrant more points) they needed a sound that was more like a table top than a traditional snare drum. The activity is less bothered about having a fat meaty wide snare sound like kit players and more concerned with short sharp sounds that show off how exactly together they are. Over the years the common sound associated to drum corps is the table top sound that is sadly disgusting to your ears. If you want a "fat sound" then look up fife snare drummers and fife drum pads.
